Bada is the future!

I think if they market it right they could get some ground. Maybe best if they tried to bridge the gap between dumb phone and smart phone or even just tried to make it a dumbphone OS that allows some wifi access for smartphone like features. I know the smartphone lite idea has been tried before (kin) and failed so it would rely on some Apple like marketing to fill a niche that is not there.

bada = Os2Warp [pipe dream]

A demonstrably-better OS let down by lack of software support from third-parties and (ultimately) indecision by its own developers? ;)

Bada is Samsung's own baby, so they're free to develop it however they want. They're still hedging their bets with Android and Windows Phone, while Bada looks like it borrows UI elements from both. Maybe they're hoping to corner the market in users who don't like/trust either megacorp? :)

In my head the hiring of Kondik always seemed like a way to improve touchwiz. I suppose they could try to get him to help in further development of Bada but I can't imagine that would be the main reason he was hired.

If my post came across incorrectly, apologies.

I'm not saying Kondik was brought on board solely for Bada, it was more likely Touchwiz as you've pointed out. However, given his talent, I suspect they'd at least look to him for advice/guidance on Bada at some point.

When Google announced that they would acquire Motorola, Samsung did saber rattling in their market to show that they were independent and not reliant on Android.

Among the obvious fictions in that statement included speculations that would have Google violating their Open Handset Alliance agreements, something that Google knows they can't do without being sued into phone oblivion, and Samsung knew that.

Among the other fictions was that Bada mattered to anyone beyond PR value.

Talking about minority phone platforms, anyone fancy a Brew?
Brew MP ...which is by Qualcomm

I actually had a Brew phone once, the Skypephone on 3 in the UK. The 3 Skypephone was made by Amoi from China.

THE NEXT BIG THING IN WIRELESS.....
