Root Downgrade 2.3.4 Gingerbread to 2.3.3 to prepare for root

ok, i'm rooted now and on miui rom. how do i create backup image? I have a .bin file that looks like revolution created. Thanks very much for your helping a n00b.

I should probably clarify what im trying to do. I've got miui installed and working, i'm looking to make a backup image of my factory phone (pre-rooted phone) so that I can (hopefully) dual-boot the two or at least have a complete backup of what I had before I started the root process.

I tried to get this automatic downgrade method to work a bunch of times and just couldn't get it to work. It failed every time for one reason or another so I finally tried the manual method outlined in the xda post, from the link in this post. It worked the very first time and was easy to follow. I'm newish to all this so I'm so I was doing something wrong along the way but I just thought I'd let everyone know what worked for me.

I have been using a Samsung Fascinate for a while and have successfully rooted/flashed it, but I can't get this downgrade to work. My only question is whether a SD card is required to do this? It came from a friend and he took his so the slot is empty. Was planning on getting one but wanted to try the phone out before doing it.

I am trying to determine if its worth it. Can anyone whom has gone through this process to get to CM7xx on INC2 verify a few things/

1. Do you get better call/voice quality now with CM7? My call quality is really bad at times unacceptable for business.
2. Is the battery life better? I understand overclocking is going to run down the juice, but I think it should improve overall since uneccessary processes are being stopped?
3. Do you get better signal strength?

TIA

Every phone and location is different. You won't know until you try it. I ended up on a nearly stock ROM because I was having signal problems on Newt's ROMs.

Radio and kernal help...maybe - Android Forums

Thanks for the link. I have used many experimental programs linux vs windows and I am not looking to spend a lot of time tinkering. I just need a better phone than what I call the Mediocre 1, there is nothing incredible about it.

I am still game to go through the process if it can address my issues. If not maybe I just buck up and go to razr maxx. I am really ticked at Verizon as I have spent 40 hours in 5 months with their tech support. This phone is business productivity tool for outside sales not a hobby.

I'm getting very far with this guide. I've read the entire list and it appears my problem is "adb devices" fails to reconize my device. It initially identifies it as "0123456789ABCDEF" and conclude the the process with "error: Device not found". See attached image of the command window.
My phone is a Chines knock off of the Droid Incredible 2 based on appearance. Can anyone offer advice on getting past this error. My goal is to root my phone and install another ROM.

I supposed it's possible that these phones are not identical and that some have hardware issues that others don't. I'm really happy running Miui. Signal is excellent, the ROM is very stable and never glitches, call quality is great, and with a stock kernel I get a day and a half of moderate talk/text/email/ including several hours listening to audio books/podcasts.

If you go with Miui, don't use the most recent version but the one before it as the most recent one f/c's the phone when you get a phone call. If you install Miui and you still have these problems, I would say that you have a bad device.

This does sound like a usb driver issue.

Thanks. For my needs I don't need to root then. I will see how close MyBackup Pro gets me to a full restore. Thanks again.
