Consolodating the branches of government?!?!

On an unrelated note-
How much do you think we could pool up here on AF ($)? Would it be enough to buy an island somewhere away from all this madness?

On topic: .... YES! Checks and balances FTW .... >.> <.<

Yes, just big enough for the staff and immediate family! Thanks for your generous contribution!:p

I am seeing so many different quotes now, the original I saw stated he wanted to consolidate the three main branches but everything else now says departmental branches.

I think that it's important to remember that the concept of three equal branches of government was not what the founding fathers had in mind at all.

The Executive was to act as agent of, and subservient to, the Legislative Branch.

Each year, the President must go to them, as would a servant, to account for his actions in his State of the Union address. They can remove a President from office, not vice versa.

Thanks to shenanigans and a lazy body politic, people think he's tantamount to an elected king.

However, that said, the President isn't an errand boy either. He has responsibility for how effectively his branch rolls, and this latest round seems to be only that.

What lines did he cross?

The line is his desire to merge the executive, judicial and legislative branch together under the executive branch.

I can't believe Obama thinks he has the power (or a chance in hell) to consolidate the other two branches of the federal government under the executive branch!

If anyone needed proof that he wants to turn the US into a socialist dictatorship then this is it.

Is this a real thread?

Obama want's to consolidate executive departments.

How does making the federal government smaller and more efficient make him a socialist dictator?

After the state of the union address there where numerous sourcing quoting him as saying he wanted to consolidate the three branches under the executive to streamline the lawmaking process and bring it under the presidents control.

If what I heard where misquotes I apologize but if it is true then Obama is a bigger threat to democracy than previously thought.

He has been doing everything possible since he was elected to destroy everything good about America and turn it to communism. He is the worst president in our history and completely anti America!

So what happens if he is reelected? I think if he is, it will validate his methods and you aint seen nuttin yet. Anyone here from Canada with a room for rent? I generally pay six months in advance.

My wife is doing the paperwork right now to obtain her dual citizenship in Germany (she is almost 100% German) and I am sure we will be leaving America if he does get re elected. I really don't think there is a chance in **** he could ever get re elected though.

I don't understand. Surely Germany would be a socialist hell for you if you feel Obama is turning the US towards communism.

If the original intent was departments then yes, that could be a good thing but to bring the three branches under one would eliminate the checks and balances that system was designed for.

If it were departments... it would definitely be a great thing: eliminate unnecessary expenses.

And this all inclusive executive power thing isn't new for Obama, or previous presidents. It has been going on for a while, he is just the final push since so many liberals are obsessed with him... they'll support him no matter what. Declaring war without Congress approval, "recess" appointments, Supreme Court Judge appointed by Obama admin taking part in ObamaCare ruling... the list goes on....

FIRE ALL INCUMBENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry for the caps lock, it was needed to illustrate a point. If you don't like your "leaders", fire them.
As a Jeffersonian Libertarian, I am appalled at how "our" government is running itself.
We need a change for the betterment of mankind, not the evolution of corporations.
Jefferson and Madison were vehemently against giving ANY power to corporations when drafting the Constitution, yet they have weaseled their way into being more powerful then the government itself. Well done, lazy voters! you've created a system where a president can be bought or sold by mere campaign contributions. Government "by the people, of the people, for the people", indeed.... As long as you are incorporated, you have rights immeasurable, thanks to apathy and laziness.
Is is too late to buy that island?

I suggest an old missile silo. A few for sale. I mean, if he is elected again, there will be no military, so we can expand and buy another one.

Missile Base Properties for Sale

Think you are out on a limb with your claim. Link provided by Martimus.

Obama Seeks Power to Reorganize Agencies - Bloomberg

"President Barack Obama called on Congress to give him authority to streamline the executive branch and make it easier for businesses to tap government resources by consolidating six agencies dealing with trade and commerce."

"Obama asked lawmakers to restore power last held by President Ronald Reagan to reorganize agencies. Under the authority being sought by Obama, Congress would then be able to give an up-or-down vote on the plan in 90 days."

As I stated in a follow up post, yes if it is agencies that could be a beneficial thing and I would have no problem with that. I was just going on what I saw and heard from quite a few sources in the days immediately following the State of the Union address.
