Help Polaris Office...anyone know how this app works?

what would I like to do...hmmm...well for one, I would like to make review comments when I'm correcting my student's papers. I would like to create forms. I would like to insert jpg files on to a document....stuff like that. I suppose it is a matter of playing with it. The problem with many of these types of programs is that they have their own quirky little things about them and I get tired of spending too much time trying to figure them out. I just thought maybe someone had a set of directions specific to this app....much like Microsoft has for Office.

You realize how much MS Office costs compared to Polaris, right?
Polaris does a lot of stuff but not all office does. You can insert jpegs, dunno about the forms or commenting though.

Its great for viewing documents, not as good at creation..

Have you tried google docs? It will do documents, spreadsheets, presentations. It is pretty simple to use. I don't know if it as full featured as you would like but it's worth a try since it's free. :)

I tried the Google Docs app for creating a spreadsheet and I find it to be even worse than Polaris office. I find it to be rather confusing to use. When you first open a spreadsheet, that screen does not seem to allow you to edit the spreadsheet. Then I had to open up the browser interface before I can edit. That interface is just as bad as Polaris office.

Ahh. I've never tried the app. I just use the browswer interface.

Unfortunately none of the "Office" apps have all the features people want in one app. I am not sure the reasoning behind this, I would think giving the people what they want would be a smart move if you want your app to be the dominant choice but nobody listens to me, just ask El Presidente;).

I saw a comparison somewhere listing the five most popular apps and the differences with screenshots of how the apps handle specific types of documents but unfortunately I can't remember where. Hopefully somebody else on the staff or a member will remember seeing it as well and can post a link.

Nobody listens? A lot of the time folk don't even remember your name :p

I think this is what you're referring to: Comparison of FIVE major Office Apps [Updated 01/30/2012; PICS!] - xda-developers

If not, it's a pretty good post regardless. :)

to be honest it's times like these when you need a decent office app...you just cant get away from MS office.

although I love my lil AEPT1....im tempted to go for this one in the future:

Can’t decide between a tablet or a laptop? Step forward Solana

has the best of both world IMO and nearly after a year with the AEPT and the fact i can't access some work stuff - we use ServiceNow, needing the ability to r-click on pages just became that more important.

Y'all need to get this free app from the Android Market. It lets you run M$ Office 2010 in the cloud. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., all in their full-blown glory.

I've got Polaris Office, OfficeSuite 5 (my favorite), QuickOffice Pro HD, Docs to Go Pro, and Smart Office. Onlive might very well beat 'em all.

saw this be it's not available to the us lot in the UK? :S

Ok, so I decided to try Office Suite 5 because you can insert comments. I have to tell you the way you add comments is beyond weird. Sure you can add them, but can't see them!!! So what good do they do??? Any, my quest for a decent alternative to word continues. Any other suggestions? Oh, and I'm still trying to figure out how to "delete".

How do you get files out of polaris? I started a document and saved it. It was saved as a doc. Then tried two ways to get the file to my laptop. An attachment to Evernote but OpenOffice wouldn't open it. I then tried to hook up the Asus Transformer to the laptop but all I could find were files for photos, no text. Ended up retyping what was on the tablet. Any suggestions? We'll probably look at another program but hate to if Polaris will do what I need.

Have you tried emailing the file?
