1) How do you setup speed dial on the G1? I want to be able to press and hold #2 and call home or press and hold #3 and call the office...etc.

2) Is there a setting to NOT have calls (all calls) show up in the "call log"?

3) Is there any way you can raise the volume on your incoming ringer? I have set the volume all the way up and it can hardly be heard from across a small room.

4) Is there an actual app that is a GPS for the G1? Im looking for a turn by turn GPS app - and I dont care if its free or not.

5) Is there any way to get the date to remain on the notification bar all the time?

6) What is "Show Bar Code" in the contact list?

7) Why dont emails that I delete from the Trash actually get deleted...they are still there...how do I remove them? (I am NOT using GMail for my mail host)

8) Is there a way to create a WiFi (turn on & off) shortcut for the homepage?

Thank you in advance for your help!

1) How do you setup speed dial on the G1? I want to be able to press and hold #2 and call home or press and hold #3 and call the office...etc.

There is no native support for this, but there are work arounds. There may be an app, I don't know for sure. My solution was to download Anycut and set up a folder of "direct call" links on my screen. So I open the folder, tap the person's name/icon and it dials them. About the same number of steps to do a speed dial call anyway.

2) Is there a setting to NOT have calls (all calls) show up in the "call log"?

Not natively, there are a lot of call/call log apps, so some of them may provide some functionality in this regard.

3) Is there any way you can raise the volume on your incoming ringer? I have set the volume all the way up and it can hardly be heard from across a small room.

Not as far as I know.

4) Is there an actual app that is a GPS for the G1? Im looking for a turn by turn GPS app - and I dont care if its free or not.

There are several, google "GPS G1" or "Turn by turn G1" and you should get some results.

5) Is there any way to get the date to remain on the notification bar all the time?

None that I know of. I have the calendar widget on my desktop, so I don't worry about that anymore.

6) What is "Show Bar Code" in the contact list?
Where? I've never seen this -- if it's an actual contact, then you've emailed someone at some point who has "Show Bar Code" as their name on the account.

7) Why dont emails that I delete from the Trash actually get deleted...they are still there...how do I remove them? (I am NOT using GMail for my mail host)

No idea, you'd have to tell us what you ARE using first.

8) Is there a way to create a WiFi (turn on & off) shortcut for the homepage?

There are several toggles in the marketplace for this, even a few widgets from what I gather.

In my Hero ROM build there is an option but I agree that its much easier to use Anycut or step up to Bettercut and make a screen that has links to your "speed dial" contacts.

That barcode is a "2D Barcode" that you can send that basically holds your contact info. It looks something like this:

Oh I know what a barcode is but he asked

6) What is "Show Bar Code" in the contact list?

which indicates his contacts section has, for some reason, a contact, or command that says "show bar code". None of my contacts have bar codes.
