Help Anything later than 4.0.2 via OTA for VZW?

O
just read a post claiming major wifi radio fixes are included in 4.0.4. I'm still on 4.0.2!!
Has vzw pushed anything later than 4.0.2 via OTA?

Ohhh that is an understatement good sir 4.0.4 radios make the 4.0.2 radios look like last year's radios they are fast and smooth and wifi battery drain and the is battery drain is fixed

No nothing has. Been pushed via OTA... Although the moding community I think has a way to flash the new radios to NON rooted users

"Fast updates, direct from Google". Uh huh...unless they're direct from Google via VZW, in which case it will be delayed by several months. This is why I never subscribed to the idea of 'fast updates. It just won't happen.

For non-rooted users? Where is this?

You realize the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus (the one Google has direct control over) is still on 4.0.2 too right? The Verizon version actually got 4.0.2 first and may even get 4.0.4 first.

I don't know what you thought fast updates were, but I don't think anyone expected the Nexus to get a new version of software every 2 weeks. Give them time, jeez. The only Nexii (Nexuses?) that have a newer version than 4.0.2 are the rooted and ROMed ones.

Thanks Truelove.
I wanted to check out the claim that 4.0.4 was in the wild, and on some Nexii. Sounds like its definitely not on OTA distribution yet, aside from some 'special cases' who claim they have received it OTA. With any luck the next OTA might be a good one. The new radio code is something I want in the worst way.

^^^^^ And if anyone does not like that answer, than go get a Ginger Bread device.;):p

Would be valid...except the GSM GNex hasn't either, nor the Nexus S or Xoom. In fact, its just completely invalid.

Direct OTA from VZW or via XDA or some other method?
OTA. I turned my phone on in the morning, and it said "System Update Available"

Have you noticed any improvements in LTE stability and handoffs?

Not really, I'm on Wifi probably 80% of the time. I have noticed improved battery life however. Maybe that's a symptom of better LTE handoffs.

I have a hypothetical question. I remember back in my OGD days, that when someone would receive a notice to update, there was a procedure to extract the update.zip (click on the update later button, etc) and make it available to others. Does anyone remember this procedure, or if it will even work on the gnex?

Hehe yeah man that is how we have gotten 4.0.4 we pulled the OTA for everyone to have

just to balance this post with my (different) experience:

i rooted my gnex just so i could get the 4.0.3 radios. they improved handoff a bit i guess, but not much improvement in reception or anything. 4.0.4 radios felt like an even more incremental update. basically guys, don't get your hopes up. acutally i'm not even sure what it means to say the radios are "fast and smooth."

can't comment on battery drain, though i've read that android OS has been toned down from 20% to 5%, but i've also read that the 20% was just a reporting error in google code and so if the reporting error got fixed, nothing really changed with regard to the battery drain itself.
