Does anyone user the trackball?

I NEVER use it, but this is actually a good idea as my chubby fingers sometimes take awhile to pinpoint where I want the cursor ...

ATM its essential for me since I take all my notes in class with my N1 and need to be able to go back and fix mistakes.

If I had a choice though I wish they could make it like the iPhone where if you long press on a certain spot in the text it will put the cursor there. Much much easier to use.

I use it quite a bit. Useful for getting to small links on websites without zooming in. Also for text editing obviously.

I use it to click those tiny links that I would otherwise have trouble clicking. You can also use it as a camera button.

All the time. It helps moving the cursor around when typing, nice scroll around on a website, and makes it easy to click tiny areas on a site.

I use it occasionally to manouver between letters to change, but love the ability to have notification lights.

Mine now glows Red for gMail, Green for messages, Blue for NewsRob updates and probably other stuff. Cool

Well, after much consideration & typically with me, getting a bit fidgety with everything running smoothly rolleyes, I fancied rooting my phone.

Didn't want to go for the Sense ROM yet (too early and many bugs), so stumped for Cyanogen's latest Vanilla ROM build.

The process was a bit nerve-wracking for a non techie but managed to follow the written and video guides & hey presto, the trackballs glow different colours! I think the only one I can now change is the Messaging colour (haven't yet worked out how to manipulate the other ones.

Phone runs faster as well, plus I have wired tethering to a laptop using the phone.

That would be my recommendation - completely stock may be preferable to you, just depends if anything else with the custom ROMS would be useful.

Yeah one thing I love love love is the wireless tethering when I'm at a coffeeshop or somewhere where I dont want to pay for wifi access

I use it to wake the phone.. I think the widget is called screenmode. Way better than the power button.

I use it all the time for cut n paste, and to be accurate with the cursor.

I use it with the camera, I think the on-screen camera button is hard to use. I also use it with editing text as stated in the thread, and lastly I use it for the game "Frozen Bubble" which is a lot like a game I was addicted to on my blackberry "Circle Popper". All these games are similar to the old Bust a Move/Puzzle Bobble if anyone remembers those.

I'm using it for moving back through words as above and also there's an odd bug in ChompSMS, whereby in landscape you don't get the menu option to insert smiley by long pressing on the screen, but you do if you press the trackball!

Oh. My. God. i hadn't realised the game could use the trackball! It is 100x easier now!! Yay for the trackball!

I use it for text editing, sometimes I tap one letter off and its easier to move the cursor with the trackball.

I use it for pseudo-Galaga.

I like the orange highlight so sometimes I move it around for kicks.

And yes, its easier to take pictures with than the touchscreen button, especially if your in the picture.

And the glowing ball is awesome.
