I actually ended up rooting and installing it. I like it a lot. I only have two complaints, and I would like to ask if it would be possible to implement a couple of features.

1. Could you enable the ability to use the lock screen and a password in unison. Maybe with the feature to have the password enabled only after a certain amount of time, and when the phone boots up.

2. Also, the YouTube app isn't installed by default, but that's easily fixed, and you can still use YouTube in the browser.

I did have one problem, the default browser will not connect to the internet while using wifi. Any other app on the phone can connect to the internet over wifi, but I had to download an alternative browser to use while on wifi. Anyone else experiencing this problem.

EDIT: So, I've found a glitch. I had used my device to listen to music earlier today, as I normally do. Tonight, while browsing the web, I decided to bring up my music player. While scrolling, the music becomes choppy, and cuts out. Then, I noticed it wasn't just doing it while I was in the web browser, it was also happening when I scrolled through pretty much anything, even the songs in the music player itself. This is a problem for me, I browse the web A LOT while I listen to music. Has anyone else had this problem?

On a lighter note, I redownloaded one of my favorite games to attempt to play it. I expected the worst, because of the problem with the music player. But this ROM make games preform WAY better than stock. All graphics were smooth, as well as the audio from the game.
I actually went into my wifi settings to look around a bit, and see if there were any settings in there that could be causing the problem. I found a proxy had been set up. As soon as I disabled the proxy, the wifi went back to functioning normally. I can now load web pages in the default browser over wifi.

Hmm... well 1) I wish I could do that, but that is well beyond my capabilities unfortunately. On that note, I have not seen or heard of anyone doing this - I don't look around for such things though, so if you know of something please point me in that direction and I'll see what I can do.
2) Yeah I took that out, mostly because of the ease of getting it back. You could also flash it back if not interesting in getting it from the market using the empty cwm zip and the system app zip in the main post - just pull out the YouTube.apk and drop it where it goes in the cwm zip.
Glad you figured out the browser issue - that is the most common culprit (stuff in proxy), sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on that.
The music thing is a new one - I've not heard anyone report this before. What kernel are you using? Are you overclocking at all? That's a common culprit for music skips - overclocking and multitasking. Any more info you could give might help me narrow down possible culprits. Regardless - sorry for the issues.

only bug i found w/ v1.4 is that every 24-36 hours it will loose its connection and not restore it until you reboot, flashing back to v1 and now the problem seems to be gone (its been 2 days and i havnt lost the connection once)

This is odd - again a first report on such things.I assume by connection you mean data? Are you in a 3G or 4G area? There is nothing that was done that would make data disconnect in such a way as to require a reboot to fix - but I know that there's been some issues with network stuff over the last week or so. By every 24-36 hours - how many instances of reboot-to-get-back did this equate too? It's a pretty new build (released 2/7), so if it only happened once or twice (as you've already been back on v1 for 2 days) I could see coincidental timing coming into play perhaps. Was there anything else going on perhaps? Sorry for the trouble though.

nothing else going on that i can see(damn did i screw up my time estimates lol), either way it happened to me twice in a day (i think that was tuesday night and wed a.m. sometime, i flashed back to V1 wed night so 2 days was wrong sorry)

i was in an area where i usually get a good 4g connection actually, however it would drop 3g/4g, voice and everything, if you can point me to a place that reports a complete network outage issues in the NYC area id be more than happy to try it again and report back.

I installed 1.4 first day and haven't had any of the problems that have been stated. No wifi or data drops. Tried to recreate the choppy music problem and couldn't. I'm also overclocked at 1200MHz. I already had the kernel and V1. so I only installed the patch but I haven't had any problems yet.

I'm not overclocked at all. The kernel I have installed is the one that was required to root. I don't know what the name of it is, but it can be found in the first guide that's listed in the all things root sticky. Its ok that you can't enable those features, when I first got the phone I purchased widget locker. So if I miss my lock screen that bad, I'll just reinstall it, its a great app, so I actually wouldn't mind letting it use the additional resources. After using the ROM for another day, I'm happy to say that I'm pretty satisfied, if you need anyone to test a new build or update, i'd be pretty happy to do so.

I don't have a link that reports complete network outage issues in the NYC area, but given your description I wouldn't expect that either, as you said all was restored with a reboot. There have just been a number of recent complaints/comments/rumblings in IRC across a number of phones that service had been a bit spotty - i.e. data/service goes out intermittently, but for relatively short durations. That being said, if v1 is working well for you then I'd just stick with that. There are a number of extras that have been added in, but if none of those are gotta-have-its for you, no use chancing it I suppose. Again, sorry for the issues.

I flashed that kernal using cwm, and all appears to be well. Not more stuttering while scrolling, and it let me overclock. Currently sitting at 1.2ghz, and patiently waiting to test some stuff.

Nice! Glad to hear! I have a few things already hammered out (seems another update will be in order at some point), but my next endeavor will take a bit - that being said, if interested in testing there is an IRC channel on andirc that I frequent (the webchat version is accessible here) and have people test things from time to time. It's not an incredibly active channel, but the more the merrier!

bubbalv29, how did you overclock (i may be missing something very simple)

My recommendation is the free app Voltage Control, available on the market.

I just flashed the kernel included in the first post using CWM. After that, any overclocking app in the market should work, the first one I downloaded worked just fine. Thanks dwitherell, I'll be watching the IRC channel.

ok i see it now, i thought when it said including overclocking that it was something build into the rom itself, i got it now, anyone know what the limit is that we can safely overclock to? i tried 1500 MHZ and it froze the phone so im assuming thats too far, im at 1200 right now (i read that someone else has been that far too)

I'm on 1300 mHz and it's been working. Don't go any higher though or you'll go into reboot loops.

I've had mine running at 1.4Ghz without a problem. I can run some more intense games a whole lot better and with less lag now, but the battery life goes to crap! lol

You should think about getting the extended battery. I bought one last night for 18 bucks. There were a couple good reviews, some saying that after heavy usage for 16 hours, the battery was still at 40 percent, so I figured why not try it out.

I have yet to try any overclocking with this ROM yet, but I figure that will happen today. As I mentioned over on Rootzwiki I was having some email issues and getting email alert texts from VZW as well as not being able to set up gmail on the native email app since flashing this ROM. I know how to stop the email alert texts through the VZW site, but this all started since flashing this ROM. Has anybody over here had issues with this and if so, how did you deal with it?

I am (partly on dwitherell's advice) going to search for a good 3rd party email app, anybody recommend a good one? Right now that seems the only way to resolve the issue.. just don't use it. Of course, I'm not exactly one to be happy with that being the way to fix something, just ignore it, but seems there is no other choice atm because I really don't want to go without TweakStock right now. Dwitherell did some great work on it and it is running very well. And if it remains stable enough for me to overclock, then I am really not going to remove this ROM!

Anyone have any email advice or similar issues?

**edit**

BTW, I tried voltage and it would only allow a max of 1000.. so that does not seem too helpful. Anybody have a good (free) overclocking app they could recommend? I also need a benchmarking tool. What have you guys had the best luck with to this point? Any suggestions?

When my wife gets home from work I would love to be able to benchmark her phone side-by-side with mine (we both have Strats). I think it would show the advantage of running TweakStock very well, providing I can find a decent benchmark app. Her device is 100% stock where as mine is running the TweakStock ROM and kernel. The results should be interesting and like I said, should be a good test of just what TweakStock adds to the device. I will post the results later tonight.

(I know the main point of TweakStock is a debloat and some nice additions to settings and menus. But I think the changes CAN translate to a smoother/faster device)

Thanks in advance, I appreciate everyone's help. Ohh.. and

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

Make sure you have the correct kernel installed to allow overclocking.

Thanks. I'm running the TweakStock kernel and from what I understand overclocking is just fine with that one.

As for the suggestion to use the K9 email app.. I will give it a try. I just got so used to the native app and hate to give it up because although it is kinda plain, it does the job rather well.

Ahh! I see. Thanks for that info. Lemme ask you this then, will I lose anything by running RHCP's kernel versus TSK?

I'll run over and check the listings and info ob the Rootzwiki page for the TSK, but if you know of anything off the top of your head that you wanna mention here that would help too. You have a lot more experience with this than I. Cause at this point in my Android knowledge I am not sure what CIFS, TUN mean. I know that what NTFS is and I am assuming that EXT4 is a file system as well.. but I fail to see how they will benefit me on the device... care to elaborate?

Again.. thanks for the info.

**edit**

Sorry.. didn't want to make another post and look like it was doubled.. anyway..

Going through some research on this, I was about to get ready to flash the RHCP kernel, but then I saw that in the TweakStock post that dwitherell made he said that the kernel used in TweakStock 1.4 is the RHCP kernel. So technically.. if I am running the TweakStock ROM and kernel, shouldn't I already have the RHCP kernel on my device?
