Phone history

Terrible option for multiple reasons. First off, call history on my Verizon doesn't show immediately. Second, I am not by my computer all the time I want call history. (Please don't tell me to use the browser on the phone) I want to be able to see it on my phone as I always have with any phone I've ever had. We must be missing something in some setting somewhere.

Well, since you were talking about calls that happened yesterday, or February 13th, call history will show on Verizon's web site by the following day for sure. For today's calls, you can still see the time made or received.

This seems to be a deficiency in the Eris call history (and messaging app). Here's hoping that the promised upgrade will fix this.

That said, for phone numbers for contacts in your People app, if you go into the People app and look at call history for each of your contacts, it tells you the exact time and date (well, it says "3 days ago for recent calls".) Click on contact, slide the bottom bar all of the way to the right, call history.

Not entirely correct. Last night I missed a call, went to bed early. The call was not in my contact list, it was a client with rollover lines. (20 in all) I wanted to know when they called exactly. Was it 9PM or 11PM or 11:59 PM for that matter. When I looked this morning all it said was yesterday. As of now, 1:51 PM the following day, the call is not listed on the Verizon website yet. This needs to be fixed ASAP. If my son or daughter calls while I'm out and I don't see it until midnight, what time did they call? No way to tell, totally unacceptable. Almost a deal breaker for parents with kids, IMO. And believe me, with all the lag and the accidental calls due to the touch not responding quickly enough on "end call", I've not said this before. But now I am, this totally sucks.

From the Call History screen click on the icon next to "Yesterday" or "2 days ago". That will provide you the details you are looking for with date and time along with duration. The number does not need to be in your contact list.

Hope this helps.

It surely does. I knew I was missing something little.(And I do mean little) Every time I hit the caller it dialed, but I never isolated the touch to the little icon. Thanks a lot. Oh yeah, the call was at 11:35 PM, I needed to know that. :)

Ryan, you are the man/woman! It's nice to have folks as knowledgeable and willing to help like you. It's what makes these boards worth the time. :D

Awesome! I'm hoping you keep posting great tips like this because I'm about to get an Android phone myself! Tips like this are great for newbies!

Thanks for the tip Ryan.

Is it safe to say it sucks a lot less now?

Haha, never said it sucks, just that "this sucks". Love my phone, but I need two batteries to get through the day. No biggie, just tuck one into my jeans pocket or connect to a computer with my USB cord that I carry in my backpack. I just like the feel of this phone vs anything else I had.

I have followed the suggestions in this thread, and when I click the little "call history" icon I do indeed get call details, i.e. the number, the time of the call, the duration, and the day of the call. Unfortunately, this last says "yesterday" or "5 days ago." I provide detailed invoices to my clients, and I often rely on call history to give me the duration, time and date of calls so that my bills are accurate. My bills cover a 30-60 period, and I don't want to keep checking a calendar to figure out that "25 days ago" corresponds with "January 31, 2010."

Am I just missing something? Has everyone else figured out how to get call history to show a calendar date? If so, I'd appreciate some help on this question. Thank you.

The only work around I've found for this, as of yet, is to go straight to the contact itself and scroll to the call history icon where it will tell you the exact time of said calls and the duration, I've also noticed that after 7 days it actually starts telling you the calendar date for the calls, which is weird.

I'm not trying to be a douche bag here, but if you rely on just the call history in your phone for client billing purposes then you might want to hire an assistant that is familiar with the whole invoicing process. I would never rely on just that for my business. Maybe make use of the calender to note times. Hell, there may even be an app for something like that.

For client billing you wouldn't have the immediate need that was originally posted (or at least I'm assuming that to be the case). Why wouldn't you go to the official records and get your call detail from your wireless carrier? That information can easily be pulled online on-demand.

Good point. It will surely be there given the age of the information you are requiring.

I find that unsolicited advice is often prefaced with words like "I don't mean to be a douche bag here..." Lacking evidence to the contrary, I must assume that in offering their advice on my billing practices, Lucidot and Ryan79260 are not, in fact, douche bags; they are simply ignorant of my particular needs and circumstances. Unfortunately, they did not address my question concerning call history details. Try again, please.

I actually thought that looking at your phone usage and history online did address your question.

If that does not in fact address your needs, then maybe you need to be more specific about what you needs are.

Would like to point out that I, in no way, claimed to be a douche bag... I just tried to offer up a simple, yet elegant, solution to your problem. Too bad it didn't work for you.

By the way, you did sort of solicit advise by posting a question to the forum. By definition...

As the Rolling Stones once sung, "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Perhaps, if the phone is ever updated to 2.1, or is rooted, the call history will better suit your needs.

What I'd suggest in the meantime is to go into the Market, search for "call history", and perhaps you will find an app that works with the Eris and gives you reports and such that you might need. There is an app called "Call Log Analyzer" from Infinity Software Solutions for 99 cents that may do what you need, though I'm not curious enough to take the time (or the money) to find out for sure.
