Root Question: [[rom]] vs [[theme/tweaks]]

OK this may be redundant but here is my question.

My admire is rooted running admiral beast etc ..

Everyone continues to ask M.emotion about how the ROM is coming along. I thought admiral beast was though basic but still a ROM?

What is being worked on or configured to change with a full ROM outside of the obvious speed tweaks and display on/off effect + color changes to status bar?

This is my first smartphone .. though savvy with computers, programming, html etc I am in waiting mode with this admire with upgrades or additional options. I have done everything to my gf's phone as well and both went without any issues.

A custom kernel that'll maybe allow OverClocking or hopefully even Ext4 support (my personal preference). And also because he was limited as to what he could tweak, without clockwork recovery and a way back to stock, he couldn't, or better said, didn't do much to it. But now that those options are available he's tweaking/optimizing it a bit more. Stuff like optimizing apks and cleaning up the system for more space :)

That's correct and I'm also taken pieces from ICS. I'm trying to optimize speed, performance, and battery life.

I'm also trying to make it look pretty at the same time. One I get what was mentioned above I will start porting features from tw like the pull down radio buttons.

The reason my first rom was half ass was cause i was only willing to go so far with out a way to recover. what would everyone do if I bricked my phone?

I do appreciate the responses and hard work you have put into and continue to put towards this ROM. Now I dont consider this admiral beast half ass because it has increased the speed of both mine and my girl's phones tremedously versus any tweaks, cache cleaning, davlik deleting done before. I am running around 100mb internal memory free and 45mb rom memory available and have no complaints.

Now with the newer more "bad ass" version of your ROM will it be the same steps to install or will it be able to over write what I have already on the phone? I don't understand due to this being my first smartphone.

Generally android roms are flashed from clockwork mod.
If the rom is the same verision of android as the one being flashed over you can normally backup your user data and restore it.

What we've been using is a side loaded style rom edit.

As a full rom (hopefully available on rommanager in the future) its most likely going to be a cwm flash similar to flashing a theme.

This is just my speculation based on experience.

What im talking about is how admiral beast was loaded ie: plug phone to pc in debugging mode and download zip file unzip file click run.bat and wah-laa l?? Is this how any additional mods to this rom are loaded?

I am not familiar with or ever used clockwork mod before ?

With cwm you put a .zip on your phone and install from there. No PC needed.
