Recommend a phone?

I have had my Evo 4G since launch date and on April 1st will be due an upgrade. The Iphone 4s is too small and I like android. So what could be the next great phone available by April to make me wanna switch from the Evo which I love but it's been two years and I feel like it's time for some thing newer and faster with more internal storage.

Any thoughts or ideas would be most welcome. Thanks

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS!

Too early to recommend anything except wait until your upgrade is available.
Also,is 4G WIMAX good in your area? If not,or,non-existent,definitely wait for the 4G LTE models to come out.

If you have 4G WIMAX & are satisfied w/the speeds, you could probably get an excellent deal on a WIMAX phone come upgrade time.*

Either way, you're in a good position to get a good phone @ at decent price, especially if you go to BEST BUY, AMAZON,RADIO SHACK,WIREFLY,etc.....

*EDIT:

SPRINT has previously stated they will support the existing 4G WIMAX network until 2015.So,you'd be set for the next 2yr. extension of your contract w/a WIMAX phone w/o worry of your phone becoming prematurely obsolete.

I'm in the same boat as you. My upgrade is on April but I'm waiting until Sprint gets LTE. Sprint is getting the Galaxy Nexus. It is on the list as one of my choices...to go along the Galaxy S III(my #1 choice) and possibly the next EVO.

Keyboards are going away so at some point she is going to have to get used to all touch screen.

The best with a keyboard would be the Epic 4G which I could not recommend anyone buy, it is a dinosaur.

That being said the best available right now is the GSII or the Galaxy Nexus next week. Honestly I would wait though, both of those phones are pretty old with the pace of today's phones.

I would wait and see what happens in a couple weeks with the Galaxy S III announcement and decide after that.

I'm just north of Denver and currently have a non smart phone on VErizon. I want to get smartphones with 3 lines and am leaning towards Sprint right now. I'll be switching in the second half of May. How is Sprint in the Denver Boulder area? It looks like our area will not be getting LTE anytime soon. Its not in the first or second wave and who knows how long they will take.

If I do go for sprint should I get a Wimax phone and if so which one or should I get a LTE phone and if so a Nexus or a Galaxy 2? I'm assuming the note or HTC EVO lte won't be out in time.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about you area, but if you go LTE you should get the Galaxy Nexus, if you go Wimax go for the Galaxy S2. Those are the 2 best options on Sprint right now

Welcome to Sprint.

Following is the unofficial, best source of LTE deployments: Network Vision/LTE Deployment Running List - Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

Also review the thread here titled: "Network vision & LTE rollout"

Galaxy Nexus (LTE) is available today, HTC Evo LTE is due in June, Galaxy Note is not announced for Sprint.

I'm not sure if WiMax is available in your area (very spotty), but there are a number of 4G-WiMax phone choices: Epic 4G Touch, Evo 4G, Moto Photon, Evo 3D, etc.

I wasn't sure when Seattle would be getting LTE, now I know it is planned for this year. Awesome!

I'm fine with Sprint service, but want to avoid contracts. My wife and I both have had Epic 4G since they came out. How may I decide which phone I should consider that I could buy from AMazon, ebay, etc.? I prefer a slideout keyboard, but not a must. Looking for something around 100 bucks. Wife's Epic screen is cracked and we pay for the warranty, but it has a $100 deductible...I think. She's kinda tired of the phone, but I don't want to utilize her upgrade credit and have to sign on for 2 more years...thoughts please?
thanks, casey

Without a new contract you are looking at $400-650 for a new current phone. Around $100 might get you a 2 yr old phone like the one you have if you can find a used one on eBay.

on sprint.. there are no keyboard phones..
there is the EVO shift, but that is not much of an upgrade from the Epic.

so.. my only suggestion.
give your Epic to your wife.
you get a Epic Touch / EVO 3D / Photon on amazon for 1 penny. (with 2 yr contract)..

NOTE: read the fine print about Amazon's fine print about cancellation!!! this is added to Sprints cancellation charge too!

The EVO 4G LTE is still a few weeks from being released but it looks like a beast! My only concern is the size (that's what she said). My current EVO is big, but I have learned to live with it, but the new EVO LTE is 4.7", so I want to see it in person at a Sprint store or Best Buy before I decide to upgrade.

I have the Evo 4G but its time for something new.....Been lurking but havent dropped the hammer on the Galaxy S2. Now I see there is a new Evo 4g LTE?? Is it any good? Anyone get there hands on one?

So what do I buy?? Thanks in advance for your help!:adore:

Wait until August. Most, if not all, of the superphones for 2012 should be released by then. That's LTEvo, MoPhoQ, and E4GT2 (aka sgs 3).

I would go with the GS2 touch. It has the large screen, great cam, and it comes with 16GB ROM and supports up to 32GB micro SD.

Has anyone had any issues with Samsung? I must say about 1/2 dozen co-workers and I all had issues with their customer service on LED tv's all within the first year. I must say they are one of the worst companies I ever delt with! I usually have my way with customer service reps but I honestly felt I was speaking another language. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TV FROM THEM! Not sure if the phones are the same but it really made me think twice contemplating the GS2:thinking:

My last 2 phones have been made by Samsung (E4GT and Nexus S). Personally I really like Samsung phones and think they are probably the best Android manufacturer for a combination of reasons (screens, bootloader policy, overall build quality, etc)

My only experience with their phones was with the E4GT SGS2. While it had a lot of positives with speed and the overall feel of the phone, I have had nothing but trouble with all of the radios in it. I don't have 4G service here in Wichita, but the 3g reception is terrible, the gps has a horrible time acquiring the satellites and maintaining that link. Even the Wifi has poor reception.

Other people haven't had any issues with them, I just know we have gone through 2 E4GT and both had the same problems. I've been very happy with every HTC phone I have had.

Well from everything I have read about the new LTEVO, it sounds like great phone. Personally I am not due for an upgrade for a while, but I am personally considering buying out my contract in a few months to upgrade to the LTEVO from my OG EVO.

My personal suggestion if you really need a new phone would be to buy out the remainder of your contract and upgrade to the LTEVO.

I seriously need some help on making a decision. I've already decided to give Sprint a try, but what I can't decide is whether to get the Galaxy Nexus or the LTEVO. Here's my dilemma. I have a Nexus S from TMo right now and slowly, but surely, it's been plagued with bugs and issues and even after getting the latest update, now it constantly just stops getting a signal until I reboot it and it just randomly sometimes even just reboots on its own. Even a factory reset hasn't fixed the problems. I'm very wary about getting another Samsung device after the pain this one has been. At the same time, I've had every Nexus device thus far and love stock Android. The only reason I'm really considering the EVO is because Sense 4.0 isn't nearly as obtrusive as it used to be. Unfortunately, I also love getting the latest, greatest Android updates and I know that the EVO isn't going to get them nearly as quickly as the Galaxy Nexus will.

I love the specs of the EVO and was very underwhelmed by the Galaxy Nexus when it first came out, but it'll most certainly be getting Jelly Bean when it comes out. I don't know what to do. I need to leave T-Mobile and I get a great discount at Sprint through my work. I hate trying to pick between multiple devices...can anyone give me some perspective?
