***Official Ice Cream Sandwich Discussion Thread***

I brought this up a while ago when ICS was announced...

if anyone thought we would get it....

heres the thing though....

those are the 2 LATEST moto phones released....sooooooo

as i thought about it, i would take it with a grain of salt...

my guess is any of the dual core phones should have a better then 50% chance of getting it....

heres a story on what it takes....though i am sure most of you all already know this

I remember when you brought it up, floorguy. Thing is, I didn't think it'd be possible that Motorola's 1st Top-tier Android phone on Sprint would be snubbed, especially because Sprint is still lagging behind ATT and Verizon.

I'm always in a "wait and see" mode, but I guess this was the chance I took with a great phone that didn't quite get the publicity that many of the other phones (throughout all the providers) got.

That would be funny as hell....

no more apple for you...:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

on the other topic....

its still a bad ass phone....but yes....i wish (sprint?) or someone would hype some of these nicer phones...other then just the EVO/HTC

I mean they are nice/decent....but from my brief walk on the other side (sprint pissed me off, and it happened at the .01 sale from amazon, so i tried the razr....till i got my bill:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:)

and lemme tell you, the controls and menu options...:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

it was fast and slick.....

wish sprint woulda pulled the trigger on better phones, besides the fooking fruit:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

HTC has always had a good relationship with Sprint, so of course the EVO line will be their flagship line. On the other hand, Sprint and Motorola have had a rocky relationship in the past (there was a long stretch in the post-StarTac era where Sprint did not carry any Moto phones), so it doesn't surprise me that the Photon did not get the exposure it deserved. I will say that Spotify had Photon ads for a good month back at the end of summer, which was a pleasant surprise. :)

Not really surprising. Spotify is motorola owned and operated.

Ive had my photon sence july 17 and there is nothing i hvnt done with it or no about it but one thing is the photon will not get 4.0..if a phone doesn't sell as good or pushed or advertised as well a phone will not get a major update... Its anything in the sales and marketing business. And to tell you the truth i think its fine without it.. If ya want the 4.0 look download a theme or ice cream sandwich launcher or port 4.0 to ur phone which ive done and do not like

I don't care if I get ICS on this phone. I'm set for 20 more months unless something amazing comes out next year in the Android line. Sprint needs to deal with Motorola if it hopes to keep Android users as Google gets more input and control over Motorola. I will never deal with Samsung again. I refuse to get crap phones put out by a company that cuts corners and won't support their crap phones. If HTC ever puts out something better than MoPho, I'd consider getting one. The 3vo just doesn't cut it.

So if the offerings in 20 months only include hyped up crap from Samsung and gimmicky nonsense from HTC, without a good viable Motorola option, I'll be leaving Sprint after 14 years of loyalty.

And why would you want it when 4.0 cause ya do realize that 1/4 of your screen will be taken due to the permanent screen icons at the bottom.. Take a look at the nexus.. It only has 4 in of viewing. So tell me why would you want to go from what ya hv to 3 and 3/4 in of viewing on ur photon screen

Hopefully, by the time ICS is released, the new version of LPP will be released (since the current one isn't being planned for use with ICS, from what I understand). I'm assuming Go Launcher will support ICS, so I'll move to that Launcher instead of LPP. Ultimately, that part of ICS will not be a road block for me. Only OEM launcher I've really liked was HTC Sense and even that has dome limitations for customizing that I didn't like.

Llp will not get an update.. If ya know what happened to the developer ya know why

Something happened to fede? What happened? So, he completely scrapped the re-written LPP? I actually wasn't aware of that, just thought that it was taking him longer to re-write the program than originally expected. If he scrapped the re-launched version of LPP, I'll just transition over to Go Launcher Ex. No big deal because it's similar enough to LPP and has the scrolling dock, which is the main reason I stuck with LPP. The widgets on LPP I've found a few apps that will completely replace them without issue (don't like the Go Launcher versions).

Hi, I'm deciding to move to Sprint from T-Mobile and my sister was considering getting the Motorola Photon 4G. I was just wondering if the Photon will be getting ICS at any point in time. Thanks for your replies! :)

There hasn't been an official announcement yet but there are definitely strong "Yes" rumors including a low-res picture of this Photon promo.

Nobody knows if it's real or fake.

Unofficially, a clever few have everything but 4G working in CM9 alpha for the Photon.

Sprint's first LTE devices should hit by May.

Party time! Excellent!

Q3 is a long way off, but at least it's confirmed. The poor owners of the Razr, Bionic, and the like (who were the first to hear they would be getting ICS) still don't have a date.

I have an upgrade coming in August, I'll see what Sprint's LTE phones look like before I pull the trigger on it.

It's finally been made official..... we will get ICS. Just gonna have to wait awhile....

I got excited for a second, but it says JAPAN next to the country. I hope that's just a typo

-EDIT-...Doh, nevermind, that's later. The US version is up higher on the list...hahahaha. My bad.

I guess, maybe we're looking at the 1 year mark (or possibly past that) for ICS, since it's in development and has 3Q as the estimated time of release.

Yeah, I'm curious to what the next Motorola Superphone on Sprint will be, since I have my last 1 year upgrade at the end of July/early August. The only thing really that would lean me towards upgrading again so soon is a quad-core phone. If still dual-core, the next Motorola offering on Sprint would have to completely blow me out of the water. Maybe a "thinner" version of the Photon would entice me a 'bit, but I don't think that would be enough.

I don't anticipate LTE phones being available for at least another year. I'm pretty sure 2014 was the projected launch for Sprint's LTE network (but not positive on that).

No, sprint will likely have LTE devices this summer.... 3 LTE devices are already announced for Sprint.... Sprints LTE will be live in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore, Kansas City, parts of Chicago, and likely more places by this summer. Check out Sprint.com/nexus and s4gru.com

Oh, that's right. I forgot they announced phones at CES. My bad.
