I just received my MyTouch this afternoon and was just wondering how do you sync it to the computer. Its connected via the mini usb that was provided but I can't find any drivers or software that would give me the ability to import music and videos on the device. Does anybody have a solution to this?

Transferring files from your Pc over to your Mytouch isn't any different than transferring files from one folder to another on your computer. Just plug your Mini usb cable to your Pc and to your Phone as you would a G1 or blackberry. Mount it if & when u get the prompt , then go to your my computer from your start button and find the Removable disk and double click it after you have mounted your phone with your computer. Bring up your removable disk folder and your music folder..click & drag your music files from one side of your computer to the other. Make sure you unmount your phone from the computer before unplugging it.
Well that's how i import my music so i hope that was helpful :cool:

There is an app called MOUNTUSB in the marketplace that makes this significantly easier. It has a widget that you can place on your home page that makes it as easy as connecting the USB cable and touching the widget.

For anyone that likes to tether their PC, as I often must for business reasons, there is another app called "PDANET" and it works quite well, at least with my MyTouch. There is a small fee for that one. It's well worth it to me, though.

hi, i just got my mytouch 3.5mm jack but when im trying to connected to the computer it dont recognize it, i did all the steps that said on this forum but still dont recognized.
please i need help!

Are you just trying to put files on your SD card? What kind of computer/operating system are you running? Usually your computer doesn't need to officially recognize it, but rather, in Windows, there will be another drive listed in the Computer, that's your SD card and you can drag files to it.

i just received my mytouch this weekend...I did what is stated above to try and get my phone to be synced so i can transfer over some mp3's and pictures. I got the phone to be recognized and seen in windows explorer. The moment i try and copy over an mp3 i hear the phone beep and it's almost as if it "unsync's" or something. Im not sure but it won't copy the files. Any ideas? Thanks

Well if you have done everything listed above and that isn't working, then you could try to turn off the phone and take out the Micro SD card, put it into the SD card adapter, then put that into your computer and try the process again.

That's an extreme way to work around it. There must be something going wrong. Are you transferring from one Windows Explorer window to the SD card music folder? Or are you moving straight from like Windows Media player or iTunes? Be sure that you do the first.

Also try to go to the phone Settings --> SD card & Phone Storage --> then see if the sd card is mounted or unmounted. It should be mounted when not plugged into your computer, then I believe it should switch to unmounted when you plug your phone into your computer and pull down the notification bar and Select to copy files to your computer and then select mount. Restart your phone, and try the process again if nothing is working. Otherwise I would take back the phone, because it would be incredibly annoying to have to transfer files by taking out your SD card over and over.

ok, whenever i do what above...under the SD settings the card is mounted when not connected to computer. Once i click "mount" when conected to the usb cable it brings up the windows window that say's there is an error with the device and recommends scanning it to fix errors. I click "continue without scanning" and then try and load the files and this is the screen i get after it "beeps" the phone. I can't click the other option that says "fix" because when i do it beeps the phone and unsyncs it just like when trying to copy mp3s. I also just tried to format the sd card and now the only folder that shows up on teh computer is LOST.dir, and it's still doing the same thing.

Ok, that same "Continue without scanning" message appears when I plug my phone in, what fixes it for me is to format the SD card. You can do that on your phone under SD Card & Phone Storage. Or you can plug it into your computer with an adapter, right click on it in My computer and select format, be sure to select FAT32, I believe that is default, but just make sure, otherwise your phone won't be able to read it. Try that and tell us how it works.

hey bud, i already did try the format option on my phone. like i say it's wierd whenever i go to the notification and click "mount" it appears to mount then brings up the explorer window in my windows, i can even drag and drop from the phone to my comp, but the moment i try and copy over an mp3 or anything it basically "unmounts" the phone again... Im stumped!

Ok so the Lost.dir will always be on your SD, and thats a good sign because that means that your phone is communicating properly with your SD card. Ok, so you formatted it already, I would maybe say try to do a factory reset and start from scratch. Otherwise if this continues, try a different SD card, or take it back to Tmobile, you shouldn't have to deal with this.

So to recap though, not trying to insult your intelligence, but you plug your phone into the computer and in the notification bar select to mount it and then hit mount, then it comes up on your computer, everything seems fine, but then even when you open up the folder for your SD card you can't drap or drop anything to it? Is that all right, yes it is because that's what you've said. Maybe your SD card is locked. Maybe there is some kind of security enabled. Try going to Properties of the mounted phone and figuring something out that way. I'm out of ideas though.
