Well, I have had this phone from Metro for about 2 weeks now. I have to say there are many things I like and dislike. One thing really drives me nuts though. It turns off on me out of nowhere! Does anyone else have this problem? I don't have a clue whats causing this because this is my first Android phone. I've been old school and I was looking for something similar to my iPod touch for apps + phone capability all rolled into one and this one caught my eye. A friend of mine told me to get rid of the apps I don't need and also to use the task killer but I keep reading on this forum that it's no good for your battery. My battery lasts about 3-5hrs depending on if I use it at all during that time. Most of the time its about 3hrs though. I disable wifi and bluetooth all the time so that can't be the issue. Does anyone have any advice for this first time Android user? I didn't think it would be this much work to use a phone always having to turn off apps and stuff. It seems like a big pain in the a$$. I really hope maybe there is an easier explanation for it giving me all this bs. I'd really like to know what is up with it turning itself off then back on randomly 5 times a day. Really, 5+ times a day!!!! Ugh. So frustrated. Thanks and anything will help!

Welcome to the FORUM SxTxAxRxZ.First,to get ya started, please ditch the task killer & any battery saving apps, both for all the reasons that you've already read about here. Next step I'd recommend is downloading a Cache Cleaning app. There are plenty to choose from, you can't really go wrong with any of them.If you're not rooted, just pick one for non-rooted phones.
Once you've done those things, just read the 'STICKY' @ the top of the page & the one @the top of the 'ASCEND-ALL THINGS ROOT' page,if you haven't already.Just about every topic concerning this phone has been been addressed in previous threads,so,answers to some of your questions are probably answered there.
However, don't hesitate to ask when in doubt,we ALL had a 1st day here & questions to go along w/it!
Again,welcome to ANDROID FORUMS!

i am also having this problem. my hauwei ascend turns off and right back on all by itself ..its very annoying

Take off the back cover & see if the battery moves around a bit.

If so,just wedge a small piece of paper opposite of the battery-to phone connection.

This problem is not unique to the ASCEND,other makes & models of phones have this issue & the fix is the same for all.

Hope it's as simple a fix as this.

Having a few minor features not up to par is one thing,a phone that totally shuts down for no apparent reason is another story.

Hope this helps. :)

i've done the paper method, but it still happens, ive removed the water/moisture indicator sticker as well.....
though, my sd card lock doesnt work, if i push down it just pops out. when i try to fidget it in, it will turn off then too. once in awhile, it turns off, then back on, other times, its just off.

If your phone is less than 1 year old,it is still covered by the manufacturers warranty.

However, you probably voided the warranty by removing the water/moisture indicator.

If you cannot get the SD CARD to stay put, then, you may just have to leave it out.The phone will still work without it,but, you'll naturally be limited to the phones internal memory.

I'd still give it a try at the point of purchase for a replacement, worst thing they can say is no,best case scenario, you'll get a better phone to replace it.
