Sprint at CTIA Mar 24th

Agreed about the 4g comment, but hopefully that will fall in line with a 4g phone....rumored Supersonic? Possibly? Though, at this point I am not even slightly optimistic.

Well 4G is a given but I think they will announce some new phones since everyone else is starting to. They may not be Android phones though, we'll see.

While it may seem that the stars are aligning themselves. And I would like to be positive about such an announcement (of the 4G Supersonic), something tells me that it won't. True, there was the announcement recently of more cities to be added for 4G service, and that Sprint's Dan Hesse and Clearwires' William Morrow will be at the CTIA event in LAS, but being that this is the first 4G phone made by HTC for the US, and being that they are not at the event, leads me to believe that the Supersonic will not be mentioned or unveiled at the event. Just talk about 4G by both Hesse and Morrow.

I really hope sprint has something amazing in store for us. I am not one of those people that is going to leave sprint because of their phone lineup, but I am tired of getting all the cool phones 3-6 months after the rest of the world. I want to see sprint give us something to brag about to our friends. This could be the year sprint makes an awesome come back if you pull out an amazing 4G phone sooner rather than later.

Even if they don't speak at the event, wouldn't the CEOs just say something like "Please come see our previews of these amazing devices at the Sprint, Clearwire, or HTC booths?"

Did HTC speak during the introduction of the Hero for sprint?

Correct me if I'm wrong but does most manufacturers/carriers usually bring out their latest phones near the end of the 3rd quarter or during the 4th quarter of the year? Somewhere between September and November?
Can't say for other manufacturers but for Sprint, these are the total amount of new phones it released per quarter for the last 4 calendar years...
YearQtr 1Qtr 2Qtr 3Qtr 4
200601359
20070857
20082566
20091677
Total:3322329

Whats interesting in researching this is the fact that Sprint has released on average 20 phones per year.
Year# of phones

200720
200819
200921

Interesting numbers TS. I just hope they come out with their latest Android smartphones before April as an incentive for me to move to Sprint. Currently (correct me if I'm mistaken) there's only 2 Android phones in Sprint's lineup.

Right now I'm torn between settling with a sucky plan from T-Mo and just get the Nexus One, or just wait for the new phones that will come out from Sprint. Another option is just getting the Samsung Moment but I would definitely be disappointed if the new Android phones from Sprint will come out later on in the year. *SIGH* This dilemma is giving more stress than work...

caloy im in the EXACT same boat, i'm on sprint and upgrade eligible, i have seriously thought about buying the moment many times, but i just know as soon as i do the N1 is gonna show up in sprint on day #31, sprint has a way of waiting till the very last possible second (literally) to announce new phones. i was VERY suprised when the moment was announced as early at it was. i have a feeling that the N1 WILL be released for sprint the first day it launches CDMA along side big red... i mean it is TOTALY possible, the Tmo N1 was released like the day after it's launch, so why wouldn't it happen for sprint, the have had almost 3 months to get a deal with sprint to support the N1 since it's initial announcement for Tmo and Verizon.

23rd i'm hoping will be a magical day, even if the N1 is not released then, i am not crazy at all to atleast hope they will ANNOUNCE a new droid phone... i just know they will and that is all i'm waiting for is an announcement, but if i don't hear anything by the end of CTIA then i'll be a moment owner the next day for sure!

Covert, I feel exactly the same.. I'm eligible as well.. and if nothing is announced on the 23rd, i will be buying the Moment as well... :-(

lololololololol you're not two spirits! you can't sign out like he does!
Yeah, what's the idea acp. That's copyright. Don't make me get Apple to go after you. :p

I currently have two Heros (mine and my cousin), One HTC Touch (winmo as a spare on SERO) and a 3g/4g Broadband card on my account. I am holding off to replace the Touch for the Supersonic when it comes out, but the anticipation is killing me and knowing that it won't be any mentioned of it (in my opinion) way after the CTIA event is not helping matters either.

But I hope I am wrong and Heese does showcase it even without HTC saying anything at the event.

One thing that is really stopping me from really going for the Moment is because this year, Sprint will come out with 4G coverage in (or at least near) my city. It would really suck if I can't get a 4G capable phone if 4G coverage is available in our area. One more month and I'll probably know what phone/carrier I will use/switch to. I do hope some very big news comes out on all the carriers so that I can get the best phone/deal/plan. :)
