Help 4G speeds not good at all.

The Note is my first 4G phone and my speeds don't seem very fast at all. On the AT&T map it shows I am in a 4G area but not a 4G lte city yet, live near Twin Cities. My phone has the 4G symbol on top with 3 signal bars and the last speed test I did was 1.9mb down and 1.17 up. Does this seem normal because I remember getting faster speeds with my iPhone 4 on 3G?

I was just looking at the manual and it didn't show that there is a 3G icon in the notification bar at all, which makes me think that some people might be using 3G and are being told that it's 4G (making some assume that it's hspa+). Edge however does have it's own icon for the notification bar. So it's possible that it's not connected to 4G technically.

I read in another post that a person had a power save feature enabled on his Note and that caused it to slow down immensely. Maybe that is the case here? Even if its not LTE it still should not be getting that slow of speeds since the person said they are in a H+ enabled area. I get faster speeds on my Atrix on H+.

Do you remember what they did or where the post is?

I'm extremely disappointed so far, maybe it just my device but this thing is excruciatingly slow.
I've been looking so forward to the Note even ported from Verizon iPhone 4s (which I love Verizon to death)
I previously had an Evo, Fascinate and Droid X so I've used android before.
I'm supposed to be on 4G but the speed test (when it would actually run) is 300k-1.5M. Which is a lot slower than my iPhone 4s. Even on wifi everything slow (web browsing, app download). Its terrible.
Plus the back seems to get a tad warm.

This will be the quickest phone return ever!

my kids just got their new galaxy notes from art store and they were silky smooth and not.jumpy like mine. I figured out what the difference was. Mine had power saver mode on and although it saves power it utilizes less processing lower and makes it less smooth. Once i turned off power saver mode it was as smooth as my iphone4......well...just about aas smooth

That was in the http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...re-if-you-got-your-att-galaxy-note-today.html thread.

I haven't got my Note yet as I errantly did the pre order online at BB and did not select the pick up in store option so I haven't been able to test this theory. It does make sense though as the power saver mode could disable certain radios and thus cause you speed issues.

Anyone else have anything to pitch in? I'm kind of grasping at straws here.

I looked and my power saving mode is off until it gets to 30% or less battery power. Not sure if this means anything but looking under settings, wireless and network, mobile networks, then network operators, I see a grayed out default setup select the default setup button. Should I be able to press that button because the manual says:

Network Operators
Using this feature you can view the current network connection.
You can also scan and select a network operator manually, or set
the network selection to Automatic.

4G LTE is not full speed yet. This summer the full 4G speeds will be unleashed on the AT&T network (at least in the Philadelpia area). Right now you can only get full 4G through Verizon and a few select cities on the AT&T network, like Chicago.

The current 4G speed is stuck at only 2x 3G or less. 4G speed should be 10x 3G.

I have noticed slower data speeds as well.I just traded in my skyrocket that i had for 2weeks.I am a new ATT customer coming from big V.On the skyrocket,it most always showed 4g.I am not in a 4g area so i get the H+.I have noticed the Note frequently drops to E.Hoping it is a fluke because i love this phone and could never go back to a small screen. My speeds still smoke Verizon, which was like being stuck in molasses compared to ATT.So i am testing in the same area under the same conditions and am noticing a difference between the 2 phones.

4G-HSPA+ and -LTE speeds are quite area dependent, however most people who are in an LTE region have had great speeds, at least on average to other providers. I've had excellent HSPA+ speeds in my area on Long Island, gonna test it tomorrow in the dense NYC 4G-LTE area. Let's hope for good results, I'll post my report when I get the data.

Speeds here in Dallas have been quite impressive on LTE.
