I'm not going to copy and paste the contents of the original thread because I'm not sure if they would want that but I will copy and paste the thread link.

As of right now, we're waiting for the dl links to go live. I can't wait! I'm charging up the gtab and installing the new CWM recovery once my gtab is fully charged.

Our "lowly" gtabs have an ICS rom...take that Viewsonic!

The Gtab has been crippled since day one,I have flashed every rom out there and none of them were 100%.. I hope ICS is awesome....it sure did change the xoom for the better,I cant beleive how fast and stable my fiances xoom is now on ICS now.

It's still a beta so I'll doubt it's going to be a 100%. But I think it'll make the gtab more appealing. :)

So I got it installed and played around with it for an hour.

I used the NVflash method to revert back to stock 1.2 bootloader with the newest CWM pre-loaded. The actual installation process was painless. It took longer to boot and go through the intial setup than it was to install the ROM.

There are a lot of slow downs at first with the UI but that goes away. There's still slow downs on certain apps particularly the new google apps. It reminds me of the first couple of HC roms that popped up. The ROM is usable but it's not polished by any means. I'm assuming things will get better once the kernel settles in.

One thing I love is Youtube HD. This alone will probably make me endure the ROM's shortcomings. I haven't tried flash on the browser yet but I did try out a few HD video clips using QQplayer and Mobo. They looked great no hiccups and video was smooth.

That's it for now.

Fixing permissions seems to speed up the rom a little. Also downloading from the market seems to start quicker.

This rom seems to start up in 10-20 seconds compared to all the other rom's that took a couple minutes. I love the new boot time

Edit: battery now charges to 100% after fixing permissions!

Ahhh, I forgot about fixing permissions. Anyways, my gtab got stuck in recovery boot loop after I went in there to clear batt stats to try to fix the battery issue.

If anyone else gets stuck, here's the fix below.

Darn! I really wanted to root my gtab to this rom of ICS but it did not work for me. I used the NVflash method to revert back to stock 1.2 bootloader with the newest CWM pre-loaded. Then I did the install from the internal sd using the 3DGtaB-GAppZ-8.1.zip file. When I try booting the tablet, it never comes up, then if I reboot again, it comes up on the viewsonic version of the rom with tapntap.

Did you just flash the gapps file? If you did you also need to flash the actual ics rom. And you need to make sure you follow the entire process including repartitioning the internal memory.

The improvement in the 3/1/2012 update has improved the rom by 10-fold! I hardly have any issues. plus, installing the new Go Launcher HD tablet UI sped things up even further

I agree its actually usable, IMO. Especially with the update from 3/17.
