HTC Scribe pen alternative

So I have been trying to find another option for a pen for my EVO View tablet, seeing as the cheapest HTC option is still 59.99!!!!! Although that is much better than the original 80.00 but I think I can do better.. I came across a Fujitsu one for lifebook T4200 Series.. its on amazon.com for 15.99 does anyone know anything about this particular pen? Suggestions for another pen? I read in another forum about a different Fujitsu pen but that one is out of stock.. Also I am limited to Amazon because of gift card... I would appreciate any help in this matter! ;-)

I can tell you I use a Fujitsu pen and it works great.

Do the pens also serve as a touch interface, rather than using a finger? Seems a silly question, but it could be a drawing and writing device only.

They do on Honeycomb. On Gingerbread, they only work for drawing and writing in specific apps and do not work for navigation or with general apps. On Honeycomb, they work with everything. I really liked the Scribe functionality on Gingerbread, but I love it on Honeycomb. It really sets this tablet apart from the rest.

Why not just buy the real thing from Sprint for $39.99? It's alive and kicking, bought 2 of them myself. Seems like a great deal to me!

These pens make me wonder if the HTC scribe pen is actually worth the price. I don't see any special features that the pen offers (other than the button to erase) over a finger or these other cheaper scribe pens. The scribe pen above at least will help avoid fingerprints, and is a flashlight and laser pointer.

Those are vastly different than the Scribe pen. You can't even compare the two. I have a very similar capacitive stylus that I bought when I had an Asus Transformer. The difference is like writing with a huge pastel crayon that doesn't always mark versus a finely sharpened pencil. The Scribe is much more precise because it uses a different technology - an active digitizer (hence the need for a battery in the Scribe and not in a capacitive stylus). The Scribe is not a capacitive stylus (it will only work with devices that have the appropriate active digitizer). Trust me, try both and you'll see that you can't even consider the capacitive stylus after using the Scribe. They really are extremely different, and it's what sets the HTC tablets apart in a big way from other tablets.

Thanks for the heads up. I bought the HTC built stylus, but I also received a "free" stylus when I bought an el-cheapo case from E-bay (before I upgraded to an Otterbox). I wound up giving the cheap stylus away before I could use it or compare the two types of stylus'. I did notice that the HTC stylus is very precise when using a Notepad app.

I've looked for a nice notepad that would replace the keyboard but I've only found one for $10.00 via the Market. $10.00 seems a little too expensive to take a chance on an app that I may or may not use extensively. If it works as I envision it working then it would be money well spent. What I'd like to do is use the app for ALL forms of writing/typing on the tablet. I figure if I has a great handwriting to text converter for everything from Email to web browsing, it would be a nice addition and would ensure that I don't let my handwriting fall by the wayside.
