Root Phone will not turn on - plugging in just goes to LG logo loop

This morning I woke up to find my phone flashing on and off. I looked and the LG logo would come up, go off, come up, go off, etc. I unplugged the phone and the logo stopped and the power went off on the phone. I tried to boot it - nothing happened when I hit the power button. No lights, no screen, nothing.

I tried plugging it into the computer and got the same LG boot loop. I took the battery out and it just tells me "Battery Required". It does not flash back and forth though, so I can assume that there's something wrong with the battery.

I cannot get to recovery with the battery in or out. It refuses to boot at all.

What can I do? I need my phone ASAP and I don't want to wait forever to get a new battery. And since I rooted, there's no way I can ship it back to VM.

I put a voltmeter on the battery - it's showing up as 2.6v - a far cry away from the 3.7 it should be, so I know the battery is really undercharged. I'm going to work today (I work at a RadioShack!) so I'll see if I can put it on a battery charger or something and get it to the right voltage. There's no nearby batteries plus stores, so that would be tough.

It sounds like the phone's charging system might be broken. Unless you have the correct probes for your meter, you won't be able to check on your own. However, since the phone only boots to the LG logo, and you are pretty well certain it's a hardware issue of some sort, you could return it.

Return to whom? I can't return it to the store (I work there and I bought it nearly 5 months ago) and LG surely wouldn't take it back under warranty since it's rooted, would they?

LG will fix your rooted phone. They will charge you for the repairs, but they will fix it.
Give them a call. Let them know it's rooted, right from the start. Then let them know it's problem and that you would like to send it off for them to repair.

This way your conscious is clean and you have told no lie.
