ok I asked this question before but can't find the thread anylonger so here it goes again.

I'm coming from a palm treo to the htc hero, and on the treo I had a program named pdareach that enabled me to have a image of my phone on my monitor, that I could control from my desktop. the main advantage was being able to text via my keyboard and not having to press the keys on the cell.

Is there a software out there for the hero that is comparable? I've contacted junefabrics and they don't make pdareach for android phones. So am I the only lazy one out there? I don't mind paying for the app if it works, and preferably a program that works without rooting my phone, I'm still a novice here.
thanks for the help.

It appears that Skydeck might do the trick. Here's a link that, among other things, says:

"All your calls, text messages, voicemails, and contacts are backed up on Skydeck.com and you can search, read, and reply to your messages (by voice or by text) from Skydeck as if it were your cell phone."

It would be interesting to hear from anyone with experience with the Android version.

I know some people have problems but have you tried paring with a Bluetooth keyboard. Then you can use the keyboard to type.

No I haven't tried a bluetooth keyboard, I was hoping not to have to purchase any hardware. I guess the main reason is I want it to seamlessly work with my work situation, where cell phones are more so supposed to be out of sight. while at my desk I keep it plugged into usb and charging but have to pick it up frequently to respond to texts. With pdareach I was able to just see what I would see on my phone without physically picking up the phone. Looking for the same, but seems like the software just isn't available right now.

I use skydeck. I had it on my Curve and now my Hero. It's an awesome app, but I'm not sure it will do what you're asking for. You can log into the website and send txts from your computer, but it doesn't "link" per say to your phone. I HIGHLY recommend Skydeck. It's awesome for contacts, and SMS records.

I just went to the website and checked this out. It looks interesting, but since gmail backs up my contacts anyway I'm not sure what the added benefit is to skydeck. Well having backups up the text messages I suppose, but that's not so important to me. What is the primary benefit in your opinion?

I used it when I had my curve. I wanted to be able to go back to old txt msgs. And the curve would randomly delete everything when it had a memory leak and would dump. It also will tell you who is calling. Kinda like caller ID, but MUCH more accurate. Many numbers that ring as unknown will display, and automatically prompt to add each new call into your contacts. To me, it is one of the best apps around.

Cool. So do you still use it with your android phone?
