Stereo Bluetooth Question

Hey all noob android user here got a quick question.

I recently got a htc hero and I am very impressed with the phone and the os as a whole but I am having one small issue. I have a pair of bluetooth headphones and when I go to pair them I get an error that says "There was a problem connecting to NS-BTHDP." (ns-bthdp == headphone name). The weird thing is, the phone says its connect to phone audio, even though I never entered in the passcode. So I go and try to listen to music/podcasts and it plays through the speak phone.. but if I go to make a phone call it goes through the headset.

I have no idea what the problem is, as these worked fine on my old gen2 ipod touch.

Does the hero have limited bluetooth connectivity, or are the headphones not compatible? I would like to know more about the error, does android os have an error log that I can look at? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your stereo headphones need to to be A2DP

I use the Motorola S805 DJ and they work great for music AND phone calls

That said I have also found this little trick

With you bluetooth and headset on
press Phone
then dial ** (wait for it to change to p)
then hit Call

Media audio will now come over bluetooth

I just double checked the manufactures webpage and it says that these are a2dp.

Any other ideas what might be causing the issue?

When you go into settings>wireless controls>bluetooth settings on the bottom it should say bluetooth devices, your headset should be there. Does it say it is "connected to phone and media audio"? What headset are you trying to use?

It does say that is connected to phone audio. I don't believe it says media audio (I left the device at work, so I will check when I get back.) It then kicks out the error message.

The headset I am trying to use is a cheap bestbuy bluetooth headset made by Insignia the model is NS-BTHDP.

I have tried power cycling the phone/headset just to make sure it wasn't a conflicting app or anything that might have been causing this issue, but that did not work.
