Do you autosync your gmail?

If so, does it use a lot if battery? Reason I ask is I forgot to check my email until a few minutes ago, and missed an email I was supposed to respond too. I know they will push with sync going, but how quick will this kill battery?

Mine lasts all day, about 14 hours, easily. I have mine set for every hour.

yeah I leave it to push and doesn't seem to affect battery much... and shouldn't since it "pushed" and not polled

The gmail pushes when you recieve I think. If not how do I set the interval to change it?

yes you will get your email within mins and if you go to your gmail>menu>settings>send&receive>set download frequency

My primary GMail account is using the push client which doesn't really use any battery. my other GMail account polls using IMAP every 4 hours and my school email polls once a day. I get up at 4AM and usually have over 50% by time I go to bed at 11PM with moderate use.

In the Gmail app I do not see these settings... I open gmail app, menu, settings.... but no menu option for send and receive.

If I go to Settings, Data Synchronization, Google and check auto sync and Gmail, will that cause push to work?

I only see the options you mention in the Mail app.
