Samsung appears close to launching another 4G LTE phone, this time on the MetroPCS network. The phone, dubbed the Forte, is a horizontal-QWERTY slider that will come with Android 2.2 (Froyo). The Forte is also expected to have a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5MP camera and a microSD slot. I work for Metropcs and my Rep. sent me a email with that info...

It's the Samsung SCH-R910 -- and it's actually showing up in dealer inventory as the Samsung Indulge. Forte was the pre-production name.

Will it offer a flash or a front facing camera?

SamsungForte.jpg

The pictures above do not show an LED flash. I see speaker next to rear camera, but no LED flash bar?

Some people have said it does have a front-facing camera, others say it don't. I don't know. These pictures could be prototypes.

However, this picture below -- supposedly taken by a Metro employee testing the new device -- does not seem to show a front facing camera at first glance.

BUT, maybe there's a camera up in the upper right side? I can't tell. Front cameras tend to be small pinhole-type cameras.

I have a small, oval shaped looking thing on the upper right side of my Optimus M next to the earpiece. It's definitely not a camera. Probably some kind of sensor.

I'm more worried about the UI being touch wiz pro, (i hate that crap). Also I searched the web for specs on internal ram and can't find jack. I'm guessing between 512-1 gig. Hopefully its like the Samsung Vibrant which is of the same line (that being galaxy) which has 1 gig. Otherwise I'm excited as hell about this phone. Supposed release is 11 of feb, but then I get info that its 23. Guess we'll see in 9 days. Soon as I see it in my inventory at my store i'll let you guys know.

Whats the test results on metros 4g lte with ookalas speedtest app? My best download speed with 3g is 319kbps, and thats with four bars. Im wondering what the data speed is to see if its worth the price of $60 a month.

Unless you like to do a lot of video viewing (not on wifi) then you would need the $60 plan. Otherwise you could likely even go down to the $40 plan. I am thinking about moving to a 4G phone soon and I might be able to save $10 a month compared to the $50 plan I have to have with the Optimus.

BTW, have you heard anything about 4G in the Ft. Myers area. A co-worker of mine says that there is practically no Metro 4G service on the Cape side of the river (where I live).
