Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I came across a few forums that mention people found relief from the one-way audio issue by turning off Voice Privacy and setting DTMF tones to Long. I'm not exactly sure what Voice Privacy is (encryption, possibly?) or the difference between long and short DTMF tones, but thought I'd ping the wonderful Nexus family and see if anyone has heard of this and/or could debunk the suggestion?

I remember seeing the same suggestion once before. I did disable Voice Privacy although I can not find anything in my web searches that explains in layman's terms what that option does. As for DTMF tones, I can't understand why that would have anything to do with the mic issue (even after reading Early's post) and since I have had issues with automated calls not recognizing my phone's tones when set to long, I left those on Normal.

Personally, the idea seems questionable as it still doesn't address why only a small percentage of us are experiencing the issue. And of course, I don't remember WHEN I disabled Voice Privacy in order to reliably tell you whether it made a difference regarding our mutual problem.

So, how does everyone feel about LG being the next Nexus manufacturer?

I remember getting an LG Dare (my first semi-smartphone) when it was new. A GREAT phone with excellent build quality. I would be, quite frankly, curious to see what LG would do if they could run with a Nexus.

Should be a pretty spectacular phone.

BTW I use Vlingo and SpeakToIt. Both work well :)

Never used an LG handset so can't really answer that. Just have to wait to see what they come up with.

Now, Motorola, however, that would be nice. Yup, a locked up bloated down nexus phone with a fantastic radio and solid build. Along with a new device due out a month later with a up to date as of last year operating system. Yup thats the stuff there

:p

I love, love, love Chipotle.

In Android related news, updated my Weight Watchers app. Still doing some ICS related optimization but the free app now detects the unlock key (the $0.99 PRO app) from the Market and then removes the ads from the application. If the PRO version detects the free version on the device the user gets a prompt telling them so and then the icon hides itself from the launcher - pretty neat stuff.

Check 'em out!

My grab bag from the grocery store.

beermix.jpg

Since it is my Saturday, it is movie night and beer night. First one, Abita Purple Haze. It's not bad. However it tastes like any other light beer. The bottle says that raspberries are added after filtration. I can smell a hint of berry, but I'm not tasting it.

If I were able to get the dog I wanted today I would have good news :(

Second one, Troegeiiator Doublebock. Dark and heavy taste that goes away quick. 8.2%, brewed in Harrisburg, PA.

Third one, Magic Hat Encore. It has a bitter taste. No likey...no, nooooo likey. There is no way I can finish this.

Fourth one, Sun Dog Apricot. Smells like apricot. Tastes like perfume.

I really don't care who makes the next Nexus. I just know I'm sold on having a Nexus phone and don't think I could ever go back to a locked phone. I'm just afraid Verizon won't be carrying whatever great Nexus phone is on the market in 1 year, 9 months and 18 days.

Speaking of unlocking and rooting, I "just" noticed that I could change my lock screen wallpaper with AOKP. (I never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed.) What I like about this is I can select a wallpaper that will help identify the phone with my picture and info if heaven forbid I misplace it.

Nice lookin family you have there Captain.

You're all expecting?

Bite your tongue! No, nuh-uh, not happening. One is quite enough and she is almost in tween years. *shivers at the thought*

And she is about to have a rude awakening tomorrow when she wakes up and finds out that she was caught texting at almost 10 pm. Me thinks a little lady is going to learn the lesson the hard way. She will now be told I can see EVERYTHING she does including time stamps. (I'd take it away but with my parents away I need her to be able to get me easily)
