iPhone finally gets some real, serious competition (Android), and how does Jobs and Apple respond: they file a lawsuit. Nice...real nice. The Fanboys must be so proud.

And why just pick on HTC? What about Motorola, Samsung and others? Could it have anything to do with the fact that HTC is the maker of Google's own phone, the Nexus One?

Reminds me of an 8 year old, who when he realizes his team is losing its lead, stomps his feet and cries, "It's my football, so it's my rules!"

Grow up Steve, and stop acting like some whiny a$$ bully.

I say that we HTC Android phone users boycott Apple. Let's send them a message. I for one do not want my phone messed with. And how long have we been waiting for the 2.1 update? We finally get official word that we should ALL be getting it by mid 2010, and then Apple pulls this crap, putting our update and even the status of our current phones at risk.

Don't buy any Apple products or anything from their App Store or iTunes for a day, a week, a ?...

Let's show Apple we won't be bullied.

Well I was going to get a Macbook but after the whole sueing HTC and Apple censoring the iPhone. I really don't want to get a "Big Brother" product. Who knows I might get a Macbook and suddenly I can't search curse words or anything they deem inappropriate and I'll have to use proxies to get around it just like highschool.

Been boycotting Apple way before it became trendy. =p

I'm in a position to keep my workplace from ever buying or using one single Apple product of any sort. So that's about 300 people who will never use Apple anything, software, hardware or handset.

If I had a patent that was being infringed upon...I would do the same thing. Apple isn't the first to sue of patent infringement. I think the patents themselves are dumb...but you can't blame them either.

The problem with Apple's (current) patents is some of them existed before Apple "innovated" them so they became common on phones/pda's and now Apple is scared and is trying to play the game in court instead of making their product better.

Guys, in this industry everybody routinely spends their time suing everybody else ... it's just a way of life. Take a look at what Nokia's doing right now, for example -- their lawyers are even more trigger-happy than Apple's these days.

Not entirely true.

Nokia were one of the founding firms who developed almost all of what we enjoy on our phones today. As such they have a vast array of patents which amongst the other firms they usually gave freely in return for use of another firms patents.

This worked pretty well until Apple came along.....

Apple would patent air if they could, and charge everyone for using it.

Anyhow, ... I think that at the moment, Nokia is probably more worried about Android than it is about Apple. After all, Nokia and Apple have coexisted for three years now, and mostly the two companies have been chasing after different market segments ... with Apple's products being more high-end than Nokia's.

Android, OTOH, is gaining steam at an amazing rate right now, and with its wide carrier and manufacturer support really has the potential to become dominant in far broader market segments. That's a huge long-term threat to Nokia.

Yup, and as all the handset makers have agreements with Nokia already, the only threat legally to Android is from Apple.

I have an iPhone and might be getting a Nexus One soon. What Apple did is because of desperation, and they know that the Android OS is better. I played with the Android OS for like an hour and I fell in love.

Steve grown up cursing Bill gates, Microsoft and their business practice. He acted as if he is the savior of the world and technology. This man is still hanging on and cursing android and competetiors.

Dont he feel ashamed as looking at Bill gates who donated a good fortune for charity and working for under privileged.

Google and Microsoft should lend their hand to HTC and give a fitting reply so apple will ever indulge into such practice.
They have files patent infringement cases against Nokia as well who was selling phone when apple was a toddler.

Owned a iPod touch for a while, but that's about it. Their PCs are aesthetic overpriced pieces of crap, they constantly bring new versions of their products (hardware related) out so much they invalidate what you've bought in two months, and they always try to play it off like they're the cool hipsters in the PC world. I have no feelings for Apple but animosity.
