A Few Questions

I understand that these questions have probably been asked before but I was unable to find any answers I was satisfied with from the recommended links (nice feature btw).

1. Backup
I updated to the latest Orange ROM recently without considering what I would loose and found that I missed my apps and messages. Is there a free backup app which doesn't require root access (grr) to work?

2. Apps / Marketplace - not showing up
Since updating I have been unable to find many of the apps I previously downloaded in the marketplace. Is there a fix for this yet as i have paid for a couple of games and i'm not able to play them now. This seems stupid to me. From what I have read the companies blame the App makers and the app makers are saying it is out of their control. Any resolution to this? or have I missed something?

3. Rooting
I have seen enough information about what I will gain from rooting my phone but what will I lose?

1) If you ask that question in the apps section, I bet you'll find some one able to help you.

2) Are you sure you've got the names right? :-/ That's about my only suggestion if you've searched for them...

3) Rooting your phone means you lose:
- your warranty
- Nascar & NFL apps (along with the other pre-installed ones that you can't delete otherwise)
- your peace of mind knowing that your phone won't brick randomly if you mess something up

Beyond those, some people claim that their battery life decreases, others say it increases. A lot of it depends on what you're running. There's a lot of ins and outs to rooting and I would suggest exploring every detail closely before making any decisions.

Good luck!

The reason you see some apps now is because of hte latest ROM. This doesnt yet see copy-protected apps.

Nothing to to with developers, something to do with Orange/HTC/Google. They will get it sorted eventually, in the meantime tryu contacting the developers directly and asking if they can provide the apk.
