Coincidence they did this just before release of nexus 1? I think not. Slow down momentum of selling android devices. HTC fronts the android os, and not as big as Apple, so attack the small guy. I wait to see them attack Motorola & Google. They know nexus 1 will kill iPhone, so sue em.....pretty much they don't mind competition, as long as they aren't competing against Apple.

Who says Apples lawsuit is legit? Anyone can file a lawsuit which can just as quickly be thrown out.

The amount of publicity that Apple is getting from their chest-beating more than offsets their legal costs. They've managed to get their competitor's fanbois chattering about the iPhone. That's about as far as it'll go. Even if HTC settles, HTC and Google (and therefore Sense and Android) will be fine.

Net impact to your phone (much less Android 2.1)... Zero.
