Also, multitouch bug can easily be cure with software hehe
Actually that is incorrect. It can be either hardware or software, and at this point, there is no evidence of which it is. However, after reading about the multitouch test that was done and posted through Androidandme, it seems that one of the guys on that site actually contacted Google directly, and Google's response was it was a malfunction in the touch sensors.

But I don't think this has much to do with the Incredible.. so i'll just leave it at that.

From what I've read so far, it seems to be a hardware issue. Since the N1 has the problems, and the Moto DROID doesn't, but sometimes hardware issues can be fixed by firmware updates....i'm not exactly sure if the firmware is disconnected from Android if that makes sense.

how many people are planning on taking off work for the release of this phone and being at their VZW store at open? lol
You better believe I'll be off of work . . . . never waited for an opening or release in my life, but I'm so sick of my LG Versa I might stay over night! lol
Besides, I have plenty of sick days and I'll just take my work with me to the store if needed. :)

I thought Google was still considering the idea of fixing the multi touch problem with an OTA update? Not saying youre wrong by any means, but am I missing something? Droid's multitouch not the same as Nexus One's (and there's a reason for that) | Android Central

That has to be a software issue. The capacitive layer doesn't physically sense touch where there's no touch. Clearly when you have two points on a multitouch screen, they're reported to the system as X1,Y1 and X2,Y2. Something in the firmware is swapping information during an axis cross or point convergence that results in X1,Y2 and X2,Y1 being reported as the touch points and that's pretty much apparent in the symmetry of the false touchpoints with respect to the actual ones. I'd be shocked if this ends up a hardware defect. If it was, I would expect it to always report false locations, including upon initial contact.

I'm right here with ya. I got got some spare vacation hours i can use and will be at home playing around with the phone all day!

I'm starting to believe the April/May release, but only time will tell. I'm really hoping there is a date announced by CTIA.

Ehhh, i don't really think there will be a huge line or anything for this. Atleast, nothing like the iPhone. Not trying to sound like a fanboy or anything but i havn't really seen lines or like hours of waiting for any phone recently except for the iPhones. They have ridiculous lines on opening day.
I'm not taking off work for lines or crowd, I'm doing it so i can mess around with the device:)

Well, I've been following this forum for awhile now - ever since I realized I'm not going to get an iPhone on Verizon anytime soon. When I saw the Incredible with the Sense UI, I fell in love. My NE2 has been up since Dec. and my wife's since last July. I told her we both need to wait for the Incredible...so we did...and we are...and our phones are dying and I'm dying to get it!!! So I finally registered because I wanted to say this about when the Incredible will finally hit the shelves...

IF I were HTC and were concerned about Apple's lawsuit - because they could go ask a judge for a temporary injunction preventing sales of their products - I would get everything I've got out in the market just as soon as I could and scrap the slow rollouts - because later may be too late.

At least I'm hoping that's what they do!

Due to the multitouch bug (among others) with the Nexus 1, Verizon has delayed the release until next month, possible the end of this month. (I know this has happened before with other releases through Verizon, so I tend to believe there's some truth to his statement. Verizon is well known for delaying releases until all known bugs have been worked out.)

I'm feeling so great about sending my Droid back on Friday. WTF, I order the thing a day before the pocketnow pics and vid leaks and I return it a few days before the N1 possibly gets delayed. Oh what luck I have.

I've been reading Android forums for a few months now and finally decided to post. I, like many of you, am waiting for either the N1 or specially the Incredible to come out. My Sprint contract has been up since Oct and ever since, I've been looking for the next best phone and I think Android is the way to go. I work for a very large retailer (whose name I cannot mention) in which I'm in charge of sales, inventory and such. Within our store lies a wireless center which sells phones from all major carriers. They are located near my Dept. so I often talk to them about what's new and what not. Even though they are independent, we are the ones who profit from their sales. Therefore, I can check our database for their new phones (which I do everyday I work) and have access to all their inventory. I'd thought I share the little info that I know, even though I think it's been posted already. Anyway, the only info I've got about the Incredible is that it is on Verizon and it's due in about 5 to 6 weeks. This information was given to me Monday, by the way. Our Regional Rep told me that we may not sell it in our store since we cannot carry everything, which really bummed me out. Now, I know this is the Incredible thread, but I thought you'd like to know what I heard about the N1. The manager for the wireless center returned from an out of state meeting today and told me that we will be selling the N1. He said that launch sales have been doing very well here and that he was told we will be receiving it. He also mentioned the famous March 23rd date. Our other Regional told me that it was only going to be sold online, so I'm hoping she was wrong. I talk to all the reps and employees as much as I can everyday to see if I can learn any new info, I'm sure they're tired of me. :D Our Database is about 2 weeks in advance and I check it all the time so I'll make sure to post anything I find. I sure hope things don't change, I know patience builds character, but I'm enough of a character and we're all tired of waiting. Anyway, keep up the great detective work guys and gals, it's the best on the net!!! See you when I see you.

I just came across the article on engadget, which is likely on other blogs as well, regarding the multi-touch issue on the N1. If you are not familiar with it:

Nexus One's multitouch confused more easily than Droid's? -- Engadget

Anyhoo, they seem to blame the problem on the actual hardware. If this is the case, I wonder if this will make its' way to the Incredible as well. While this doesn't seem to affect pinch/zoom etc... it will most definitely affect a lot of gaming possibilities and some other apps. If this is a known issue, it would be nice if upgraded hardware is used in the incredible, but I kind of doubt it...

Dang, as new as this guy is (Droid Padawan 316), I like his low key, FWIW, approach.

I think it's safe to say "thanks from all of us"
Yeah, thanks Droid Padawan. Glad we have another person on board to share info. The 5-6 week window you gave goes in line essentially with a April release, which has been rumored, so it might indeed be the actual month. Again, just going off rumors.. April is fine with me though.. couple more weeks isn't gonna hurt:)

Holy crap....I refreshed and there was nothing new. That hasn't happened in forever. Time to fix that lol.

Regarding the POTENTIAL May release for the phone, sucks that it's that far off, but I'll keep waiting. N1 seems to be having too many issues for my taste. My NE2 was up last month, but I'll hang tight for now. I'm really wishing I had another one of my XV6900 (Touch) phones laying around since I found out the Desire's ROM can run on it. I really have no major time hands on with SENSE or Android.

EDIT: Patent comments removed and reposted in the patent thread here. It is relevant, so I recommend reading it nonetheless.

Hi everyone. I've been reading here for a while and decided it was time to make an account and contribute.
Anyways judging from what droid padawan mentioned about a release date and all the previous rumors which nearly all point to a march or april release, I feel like it's possible/likely we may see a march 23rd announcement, but an april release.
However, I'm not an expert on Verizon/HTC's release strategy - is there normally a significant gap between formal announcement and release?

I'm out of work, so, yeah, I'll be there. It says a lot about the Incredible that I'll be spending money on it while unemployed.

Anyone need an Electrical Engineer with experience in Systems design and integration for the Defense industry?
