Root ICS rom coming soon?

I stopped by the transform-ultra channel tonight and found penguinrepair and bads3ctor in there. We got to talking and it looks like an ICS ROM is in the works... just wanted to give you all an update. :)

<bads3ctor> If I compile ICS for Ultra, where is a good place to post it?
<bads3ctor> and I'm using the overclock kernel
<Seansung> you mean forum wise?
<bads3ctor> yes
<bads3ctor> I do not think I will post it on SDX
<Seansung> it would be great if you could post here: Transform Ultra - All Things Root - Android Forums
<Seansung> I go there just about daily and there are tons of people that would LOVE that
<Seansung> that is where I go to get just about everything. no doubt
<bads3ctor> sounds good
<penguinrepair> yes sounds well
<bads3ctor> I guess I better get a compile'n
<penguinrepair> Seansung, thanks

Yo, How's it going! I have 2 projects at sdx-developers: ICS and CM9 for the Samsung Intercept. I just bought a Boost Mobile Ultra and I want to build ICS for it. I need to know how much interest there is for this.

I would very much appreciate an ICS and/or CM9 ROM on the Transform Ultra. There's a CM7 port started, but no one finished it. ICS would kill it on this phone!

OMG YES!!! Please!!!
Quick question. Whats the diff between ICS and CM9?
Edit: ahhh im broke...I deff would donate but yea.... =/

Well thats a difficult one but I will take a shot at an answer.
ICS is AOSP Google. Welcome to Android | Android Open Source
CM9 is derived from it. CyanogenMod | Android Community Rom based on Gingerbread
That ^^^ says Gingerbread because CM9 has yet to be released.

CM9 patches the crap out of AOSP ICS. I mean tons of git commits. I used CM9's legacy touchscreen patch to get Intercept TS working.

So basically a custumized version of ICS with bug fixes?

That is accurate but it is far more.. follow his link to cyanogenmod and take a look at the extra features. Cyanogenmod is a rom used for many phones with many innovative features. ICS will be bringing many new features to the table and CM9 will add to that functionality with their own innovations.

Yes i've read a bit of that post a few months ago. But i used to run CM7 on my crappy huawei ascend. I liked the features CM7 brought to the phone.

@bads3ctor if this ROM sees the light of day, will there be any Boost mobile stuff? Im asking because im using the sprint version.

I can release a "crappy" version hacked together from CM7 device files. The compile has problems and I am still working out fixes....but I have an ICS compile(tuna) that should run if I hack in files from https://github.com/interdpth/TransformUltra-CM.

I have a Boost Mobile fone that I bought @ radio shack. It is activated but I'm not going to add minutes. I got the MSL from Boost Mobile support :D

id be interested in ICS for the Ultra.. my gf has one on Sprint.. im currently working on ICS for my phone the LG Optimus M for metro.. Ive got it compiled and booting.. but not much else works... havent had much time lately to try to rewrite the drivers for the touchscreen.. may have to look into that legacy patch for the touchscreen you mentioned to see if that works.. but id be interested in ICS for the ultra.. and may be able to help with it as well if i can find the time.

Take /frameworks/base/services/input/InputReader.cpp from CM9 and put it into the same place in ICS. It will probably fix TS. Of course back up the original file

Edit: http://min.us/mdOKeCUko << here it is...with the header file. You can do a diff on this .h file and the 1 in ICS....should be the same. You can also do a diff on this CM9 .cpp file and the 1 in ICS.....it should equal the patch we are talking about. :)

Well, CM9 is not ready yet and ICS is really difficult to make work...at least on crap phones like the Samsung Intercept. Maybe it will be easier on the Samsung Transform Ultra. I hate bloatware so it will get blown off unless it is needed to boot Android.

Edit: I'm taking a little break right now. I took a crack at compiling a nightly build of CM9 for Ultra but it has errors. I have seen those errors b4 but I forget how to fix. As soon as I get a good compile and boot, I will release a pre-alpha zip.
