Well, yesterday (1/1/2012) I FINALLY rooted my EVO 4G that I've been proud owner of since summer of 2010. Ever since I learned that I would be able to use the phone as a wifi hotspot for FREE(!) I thought it would be cool to do it. Both of my kids have IPods that need wifi and my wife's IPad as well, so hoping I can get that all working well! The process went fairly painless but thanks to my ever-patient wife, we were able to work through any of the 'issues' at hand! I'm trying to learn all I can before attempting much with my new found freedom! One thing I am finding though is when I search on certain subjects like, "How to flash ROMs", I seem to be viewing threads from say way back in 2010 - which may or may not be relevant to now.
I'm still not completely clear on the 'nandroid' thing! Is that at all the same as doing a "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" from ROM Manager? If not, please tell me the best method to do this. Also can I safely remove things like "Sprint TV" and "NOVA...whatever" (which actually, already did!)?
Well, enough for my first post - no need to wear out the welcome already! Thanks and Happy New Year...
