Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Daughter of one of our friends went to Alvin Ailey Homepage | Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at about that age, she was 16 or 17 as I recall. Four years ago, seems like yesterday we were all pulling for her. Cirque du Solely signed her. :)

My kid went on Native American historical digs about 1400 miles from here. She wanted field experience so she wouldn't end up classified as strictly a lab type, as she was all about lab foresensics for archeology. I think that I have one of the few kids that hung out at an autopsy lab when she was 15 and 16. Took a while to get her to not discuss her favorite autopsies at dinner without hurting her feelings. :D

Despite her firm plans to work in archeology or anthropology, she changed her mind and now works in a genetics lab.

Those are great stories. Your daughter sounds like a real trooper, strong in science. Acorn doesn't fall far does it? :)

Well, my sister is no longer part of the android crowd. She returned her nexus for a iPhone 4s, but on the bright side, when no one is looking, I am going to abuse siri

Seriously though, as long as the phone works for her. Perhaps android was too much, she is not a tech junkie like I am. Nothing wrong with the iPhone, folks. Nothing at all. Different strokes for different folks, is that the saying?

Another take on the education posts I have been seeing while lurking...(I'll keep it short)

It took me 5 years to complete my Bachelor's degree in Information Systems because I hated THE school I was in (not school in general, but for financial reasons, I couldn't really transfer till last semester). Many of my friend that also graduated from this school hated this particular school as well. I learned nothing. Literally, I did not learn a damn thing. Where I am currently GOING to be working (hopefully starting in 2 weeks) 3 or 4 people also went to the same college and said the same thing. They learned nothing in college, got their degree, and learned everything while on the job and learned more within the first month of work then they did the 4 years they were at the college.

I am sure not all schools are like this (the school that I actually got my degree from was better, but I only went there 1 semester so it is hard to say) but I would take caution in the selection of school.

Oh and to add, my degree was CIS and when I went to that particular school and it was an Institute of Technology yet I still learned nothing. I got my degree from a primarily nursing school and learned more in one semester then I did the entirety of my time at the IT school.

Hello Gnex watering hole folks,

I need some advice. I am moving to an area where my present service provider (T-mo) gets basically either no service or 1 bar of g...not 3g or even e lol. Not a big fan of the big VZ but they do have the best coverage so I don't have much choice. Now onto phone choice. Yes I am posting in this thread so ya'll probably know which phone I have my eye on...especially since I have had ICS on my vibrant for a bit now and love it.

But have read on here that some are experiencing some audio issues and other problems. So before I pull the trigger on the nexus what does the community think or feel about this phone? Should I be looking for a date on the phone that is mfg newer so that I may get an issue free phone. I need to buy in the next couple of weeks so if anyone has heard about any upcoming specials and could pass them along I'd appreciate it? Thanks and look forward to your opinions.

Getnbzy, right now is a great time to be purchasing a new phone. Don't know if ICS was stock on your Vibrant or Touchwiz'd, but it's a huge upgrade from GB nonetheless.
As far as audio issues, I haven't experienced any. The call quality isn't quite as good as my Droid and Bionic, but it's no slouch. If you're looking for any deals, first time subscribers usually get a sweet deal on a phone. Definitely look at Wirefly and Amazon. Sometimes you can get a phone ($300 one) for a buck.

Edit: I just checked and the Nexus is running at $99 from both vendors on a new subscriber contract.

Some people have had issues with their GNex, but for me it is undoubtedly the best phone I've ever owned. The only problem I have with it is keeping it away from my iPhone wife who now wants to trade phones.

As an extra incentive, VZW is currently offerring double data for new customers. Not as good as unlimited, but 4GB/mo for $30 ain't bad.

Unfortunately with all my children being under 5, the only digging they do is in their nose. But I hope to be have such great stories of their successes someday as well. Kudos to the parents as well!

Brag on the little ones too. I do with Evan.

It has been my feeling that Lucky's experience has been the exception, not the rule. Many of us are all set on are first GNex, others were OK after one exchange. As far as the GNex goes, it is an awesome phone.

Morning BB and everyone else. I thought this thread was all the "circus" you needed?

Anyway, have fun with your daughter today. I'll get some time with mine today too. I'm flying from Tampa to Minneapolis (in the air right now, I love inflight internet!) to Salt Lake City to have a two hour brunch at her sorority. It's a lot of traveling, but she's worth it.

BB, if Steven were here he would tell you that I love the circus! Have big fun!

CR, you too!

Thanks! I'm quite excited as the commercials all show the cage with the dirt bikes this year. They left it out last year and its one of my favorite parts. :D

Morning everyone! Anyone else as excited about UNC killing Duke last night?!? :D
Can't wait for March Madness!

Ewwww...while I hate both teams, I hate UNC even more solely because of Roy Williams. I don't care what UNC fans tell me, but everything is about him. Between his "vertigo" at convenient times (when the camera is on him or when he gets on a boat and someone asks him about it and instead of avoiding the question and making it about the team, he rants on about it for 45 seconds) and just watching ESPN this morning and calling the team "my team" not "the team" or "our team" just REALLY sets me off. Jimmy Boeheim wouldn't be caught dead saying that :) haha.

So. Last night at 630 I decide to go to Zachs, a bar/restaurant about 3 minutes from me. I end up talking to guy from Boston. Cool guy, possibly drunk? He asks about a good singles bar and strip clubs. Good convo with the guy, but he his all over the place. I learned a lot about him in an half hour.

Then, all of a sudden, this big group of people comes in wearing neon green shirts. I forget what is printed on them? Two ladies from the group end up talking to me and say they are going from bar to bar to collect money to go to Africa. The next thing you know I'm being "kidnapped".

So there I am on one of two buses going bar to bar to collect money for some of these people to go to Africa. Most are drunk, like me. I don't know anyone I'm with. Any bar I go to I don't know anyone as I just moved here. All this time I'm out I have work in the morning and have to be up at 530a. I stopped the drinking of alcohol and started drinking LOTS of water. I couldn't risk showing up to work tipsy again. No, I'm not alcoholic LOL!

I ended up not getting home until 2a and was up at 530a. Oh...turns out they were doctors and nurses. Some are going to Madagascar to operate on kids with clubbed feet. The end.

I'm going to have to stop checking this thread daily. I can't handle all the WalMart UNC fans. ;)

Oh you just look like a butt hurt State fan
My wife is a Carolina grad who couldn't care less. We have a good friend who is a rabid Duke grad/fan and we always like to talk beef. I just like how it was redemption from UNCs loss a month ago. Cameron is probably one of the hardest places to play and I'm glad they pulled out the win!

Your wife sounds like mine. Went to school there for 4 years and never went near a basketball game. She was a hippie :)

I was a Duke fan back when I was, I don't know, 13 or 14, and paid attention. I haven't watched college sports in..well..a long time.

I have several friends who went to both schools - and State for that matter - (I grew up in eastern NC) and it's always funny to watch them butt heads about it.
