Tricorder: Functional Nerdity, at it's best

Back when I carried around a Palm Pilot, Tricorder was a humorous diversion that didn't do much more than proudly proclaim to those around me: "This guy's a complete nerd." Oh, and it kept my kid amused when we waited in Doctor's offices, and such.

Ah, but Android phones do so much more than PDAs ever dreamed of! They have actual sensors built into them. So it's only natural that Tricorder became something more than a gimmick. It's an actual utility.

Scan for Wifi signals. Detect magnetic north. Measure decibel levels (like when the kids are running around screaming). Measure g-forces (Mythbusters, take note...). Determine which way is up (useful for instances where you've had too much Romulan Ale). Measure cell tower signal strength. Look at the sun without burning your corneas.(via SOHO images from the internet) Pick up Orion Slave Girls and take them back to your base- okay, I made that last one up.

Tricorder does it all. Just like James T. Kirk- back when Star Trek was about kicking *ss and not talking people to death.

This amazing program is right out of the 24th Century, because it's FREE. And it runs a paltry 547kb.

Now if only someone would write a "Phaser" app that would turn my Android into a non-lethal stun gun. That would be something.

urgh!

Well done CBS, rather than take the opportunity to support a developer and fan by offering a license arrangement leading to profit for basically doing nothing you chose to be a bunch of *****.

ifb-online in response to the app being pulled many users uploaded it to the net. You can find it if you search 'tricorder torrent app'.

Spent the last hour trying to find and download this app directly to my OP-V. Cannot find it. Everywhere I went ended up a dead end. Anyone know where I can do this?

I just downloaded syco's link and put it into my DropBox. I installed it on my DHD from there. I too had previously had this app and lost it to an update but I'm glad to have it back.

I have a stock OPV (not rooted) and want to get this app. I downloaded the link and tried to install but got a message about cannot "parse". Have no idea what that means. New to smart phones. It appears to not have downloaded as it is not in my applications list. How do I get this on my OPV? Thanks for any and all help...
