Hi,
A week ago I bought a note for my wife and I liked it so I got 1 for myself today. I have been using an IPhone and didn't see the issues I am seeing now.

I can't log into any of my social accounts if the password has symbols in them. The passwords are correct cause I used them on the computer and was able to log in without problems.
Any of you get this issue?
Also, I made a text file using notepad with all my ids and passwords so I can copy and paste passwords but don't know how to get the text file to be readable on the note. I emailed the file to myself and tried to view it from within the phone but I couldn't do a copy and paste from that file.
I am finding the passwords issue very annoying. Spent over 3 hours trying to log in to my accounts without any success.
Any help appreciated.
Ah..1 more thing..the market was replaced by something called "google play" for some strange reason. Now the android market doesn't work..any ideas?

Well, I had no problem logging into my accounts with passwords having symbols like the asterisk. Aren't your symbols found on a standard keyboard? What's the keyboard (eg: built-in Samsung) you're using? Type the password in another field (except the password field) and check if they type in correctly.

Anyway copy pasting from a text file may help. Afaik, there's no in-built text editor in Note. You'll have to install a file manager like ES file explorer. [Link]

Google Play is the new android market, and it works just like the old android market used to. You can browse/search for apps and install them just like before.

Thanks for the reply and confirmation that symbols work..my keyboard shows 3 pages of symbols and it's what came with my note. I have just installed a file explorer and found my text file but still can't copy from it. When I click on the beginning of a word, I get a message saying "search for word".
And thanks about the google market clarification. I just wish I could copy and paste :(

Not every file explorer may let you copy from text files. Try the one I mentioned, coz I know it surely can. Open the text file from the ES Note Editor within the file browser.

In most cases, especially in text fields, long pressing on a word pops up a list of options that has 'select word/text' in them.

the copy and paste functionality on the note is probably my biggest gripe. It's extremely hit and miss, unintuitive, cumbersome and frustrating. Worse still the feature varies between apps, and fields within apps. Urgh. Can't have everything i suppose :) - still, a simple press, hold and drag to select, especially with the addition of the stylus, would have been wonderful. AND WTF cant they put shift and arrow keys on the keyboard to allow this? grrr

Thought it was only me. Happy to know it isn't. :) Just us the ES explorer and it should solve this copy paste issue...but it is really disappointing to find a flaw so fast. Had the phone for 2 hours when I found this..I thought this would be my last phone for a long time..right now..not so sure. It's a bit slow around the net too. My Iphone was ay faster..:(

I found an app mentioned in another post called Textspansion and it allows you to keep a list of whatever you want. Once you enter in the data, you can just long press the Search button and it comes up on the screen. Then you click on the one you want to copy and it auto copies it for you and then you can insert. It's made it a lot easier for me!

may be I didn't get the point of his problem, but I am simply using my Smemo app, which comes with the phone. It does all the copy, paste.... I need. you also can import any other notes and you even can link it to "Evernote_cloud" or to dropbox.
example: open a noted double touch the text with the Spen and it open the copy, paste... function for you........
then you can insert(paste) it into any other app or screen.
You also get a LOCK-function to block some more sensitive notes from public eyes.
I have tested it, it is not easy to break but for sensitive notes like PIN numbers etc... I recommend to use a pgp encrypted textfile.

PS: if you link your Smemos with evernote you even can edit, paste and copy all your notes on your PC (WITH EVERNOTE pc APP) And it syncs automatically with your Galaxy Note Smemo

The Thumb Keyboard from the Market has arrow keys, al la WM.

However, for selection for cut-and-paste, after press and holding, I select the 'Select word' option, and adjust the paddles. Then select 'Copy' from the popup.

What really gets me is trying to edit the character at a particular point and the auto-correction keeps trying to select the whole word, making me type the whole word again.

We have these things to help us type faster, but they can get in the way at other times.

If you have DropBox installed on your Note, it comes with a nice text editor / reader that does copy and paste. From gmail you should be able to just click on preview and view the text file.
