What the hell is this ? I had my market themed with the transparent market & I liked it now this playstore has ruined my theme & I can't stop the update from happening, Can put the transparent market theme into the playstore ?

my assumption is that apple is sueing android for having a similar app store "Market"

well at the moment im running cm7... so from what i heard i think the gapps package doesnt update. im gonna check for a new package.

I m also on CM7 from whyzor, which i ported for My on CSL-MI410.
If you find new Package, tell me too. i will add it on my rom thered on xda...!!
But my SGS 2 on stock rom also not updating, maybe a problem from google server & before CM7 market also get updates automatically, but this time not

actually i just found out they just changed the name of the website...

they may send a OTA update that changes the name of the market app as well sooner or later

Android Market, upon release a few years ago was a brand made for the Android Platform specifically. Since the release of the Android Market, Google has released Google Music, Google Movies, and Google eBooks, not necessarily with those names. They've grown the services within the Android Market, by making them new "features" or "additions". Now that they've got everything all set and the services are complete, Google is able to launch a whole new brand and integrate all the services together. Google Music, Google Movies, and Google eBooks were meant to be cross platform services that happened to be kicked off under the Android Market brand. Google can now market their services without having the issue of people thinking the services are only available to Android devices. The Google Play brand is going to take some getting use to, but in my opinion, after understanding it, will have a lot to offer in the near and distant future.

google is consolidating their services.

a few years ago, almost every service they had was a beta, and seperate from all the other betas they had out. Now they are just normal services people use everyday.

makes sense to roll them all together.

they are doing the same thing with accounts, new gmail accounts require phone authentification becuase its now your youtube account, google+ account, EVERYTHING.


and no you cant avoid it, the new market is just how it is.

Did anybody on CM9 get the Market/Play update yet? I have force closed and cleared data and haven't had it update yet. Oddly enough, my Google Music updated itself, but not Market.

Well the market will update too the playstore on CM7, it happened to me, but I themed the playstore with the transparent market & all is good so far.

I don't know, I would guess something like marketing, or the fact that they are re-branding the market towards music and movie downloads.

There has been no word of any sort of lawsuit in all of this. It is probably just Google bringing it all together under the Google brand, and they liked Google Play better than Google Market. It might have to do with the fact that they are coming out with their own gaming system before too long as well, and this change would tie right into that.
