Easy Battery Saver Question

So, my battery was really dying a lot, in my new Galaxy Nexus and I downloaded Easy Battery Saver.

I switched it to "Intelligent Mode" and, from what I understand, the Wi-Fi and Data Connections turn off when the screen goes off.

Also, will this "Intelligent Mode" setting prevent my Google Latitude and other applications like that from running when the screen shuts off?

Is there a way to conserve the battery while keeping these connections on, or does that defeat the purpose of the application and will continue to kill my battery?

Is there something I can set-up in my custom settings? I don't really understand them.

I also have an application running that will turn my Wi-Fi on and off at different, designated days and times.

Would JuiceDefender Ultimate be better?

I can't answer all your questions but I can tell you this.
1. Having data and wifi disabled will not prevent Latitude from "running" but it won't be able to do anything useful either. Without some way of communicating with the app server, your location will not update, and it will appear as if you are offline. Also, you won't receive text messages or emails with data and wifi disabled (though incoming phone calls won't be affected).
2. Having multiple battery saving apps running is a bad idea because it uses battery current and cpu cycles to keep each of them running, thus negating the beneficial effect. Pick one that you are comfortable with and dump the rest.

I'm not familiar with the app, but any setting that disables data and wifi (as you previously described) will prevent it from updating

If your previous description of "intelligent mode" was accurate, then the only way that could have happened is if your screen was on.

Turning the screen brightness down and charging your phone only when it's close to dying like around 15% to 10% will help so that the battery doesn't die as quick.

Thanks. On a side note, my phone isn't vibrating when I am clicking the screen, only when i type. What is this setting called?

Note that these "battery savers" that shut down your radios will do more harm than good if you use your device frequently. (by that I mean more than 3 times/hour)

Turning the radio on/off will use more power than keeping it active.

I do use my phone a lot and I have found this battery saver did its job. I only used 20% of my battert in four hours. I have never before come close to that. I just dont like not having instant notifications.

Notice that most of these apps (Juice Defender, Green power, etc) will turn off your mobile network (3/4G LTE) and will turn it back on each X minutes (you can set this) to refresh your e-mail, twitter, facebook or whatever is set to auto-update... Let's say it's set to 30 minutes.

That means the radio will be enabled twice an hour. If you use your device less than twice an hour, then it will be valid, but if you, like me, use it like every 10 minutes, turning the radio on/off 6-10 times/h will use more power than leaving it on full-time.

It's like a car mileage. It will get better MPG in a highway because of the contant speed and lack of inertia. Same goes for the phone.

Maybe you could try using a slower and less power-consuming network, like EDGE or 3G (assuming your have 4G LTE available).

Also, the biggest battery hog is the screen, and then the processor. If you run intense tasks throughout the day, nothing will help you.

Tell me about your use, and I will see what I can do for you. I used Juice Defender, and my battery lasts even more now, because I had it turning my 3G on/off like 10 times per hour.

Juice Defender did more harm than good for me, it will work better for those people that leave the device sitting in the table throughout the day, like my father.

Well as I said in another thread of yours, 3G uses 25-30% more power than Wifi. If you would use Wifi while at work, your battery would last significantly longer.

Also, try to determine what your battery can do, like I did. My Galaxy S won't go further than 4 hours with the display on while navigating in wifi, and 3hrs in 3G. Notice that I said navigating, not idling. It's good to know how much juice you can squeeze outta your battery, so you're not frustrated later.

JD Plus/Ultimate can be set to turn on 3G each 15 minutes, which is much less than the 6-10 times you use your device. I noticed that you're a heavy user, so any kind of battery saving software will do more harm than good, just live with it.

If you're not in need to use 3G's full potential, and just need to update email/twitter/whatsapp or similar, you can try using 2G (GSM), which is less harsh on the battery too.

Post here a screenshot of your battery usage after a full day and mention how long the display's been on for, so we can help you better.

I have JD Ultimate and I have that 15 minute setting. But, there are so many other settings/variables. How can I be assured that the other settings are proper? Can I also use it with my application, "Setting Profiles?"

As I told you, as a heavy user, JD will do more harm than good.

My suggestion is that you use the Wifi, and enjoy your device the the fullest.

Thanks. Now, on a side note, my "Vibrate On Touch" seems off. My keyboard vibrates, but my Yahoo! Mail doesn't, nor does my homescreen nor my static homescreen menu items. It may be due to my settings in "Setting Profiles," but I just can't seem to figure this out. There are various silent settings and I can't figure them out. I feel like i did something, but I am at a loss.
