LG Esteem has 512MB RAM and 8GB of internal storage (32 SD optional)

Samsung Galaxy Attain has 512MB RAM but no internal storage (32 SD optional)

4.5 for Esteem and 3.5 Attain (Screen Size)

Is $100 difference a fare price for the lack of the 8GB and smaller screen size difference for you?

Well, I'm holding my brand new Attain in my hands.

There is indeed internal storage, or so it seems. I appear to have 1.36gb of internal storage on the device. Granted, it's not 8, but it's something. I also like how much LIGHTER it is than the Esteem. I waffled on it for a good 15-20 minutes standing in the store and fiddling with both before deciding.

You forgot the camera difference, dad just got the attain, its pretty nice and it runs as well as the esteem, got a 2990 on antutu first try.
Hope you like touchwiz ;)

There's no fat32 partition on the internal memory, BUT it does have 1.5gb for apps way more than my old om :O

I am waiting to see pricing on the Connect, but with the spec's that the Attain has i will be going with either the Esteem or the Connect...Pending on price...

The Connect will more then likely be more expensive, it looks to be a liitle better phone... well spec-wise, dual core processor, nova display, double the system memory, but only half the built in storage (but hey, that's what sd's are for), but what I haven't seen is hdmi/video out for the Connect, which the Esteem has (hdmi), which may not be a biggie for most... My buddy has the Esteem & to me it just feels thick & bulky, compared to my Evo & the Attain I just picked up feels a little too light, kinda cheap & plasticky (?), feels like if I dropped it, it would be a goner, which bothers me, especially when my wee ones are always trying to play on my phones, but hey, that's just my opinion & maybe I'm a little too picky... To each there own right.

you have to take out the battery cover every time you want to put in an sd card or change the sd card.. its to the left of where the sim card is. tilt the phone to your right and you should see where the sd card port is.

when i went to go change my phone at metro, i was going to get the esteem but the guy told me that the attain was faster and better than the esteem (never heard of the phone before so i was a little skeptical.. i did buy the phone like 3 days after it was released but w.e). i took his word it and either way if the attain isnt faster and better than the esteem, this phone is amazing. the esteem obviously has a bigger screen then the attain but i never liked how you have to hold big phones (evo's, esteem, hd2), with the attain to me i feel comfortable when its in the palm of my hand. honestly i highly doubt you'll regret getting the attain. only bad thing is we have no root for the attain :-/

Okay, so I'm still debating whether or not I want to get the Esteem or the Attain. Tax money will be coming soon and I really want to get a new phone. I heard the Attain was a lot faster than the Esteem. I don't really care too much for the Esteem because I don't want to feel like I'm holding a brick to my ear.

But wait a minute..... my friend used to have Metro and he couldn't even get service inside of his house because he does live in a rural area... so he went with boost mobile, I'm in a debate because boost has their shrinkage plans (wish metro did too) but really though.. is boost mobile better than metro?? I know boost runs off the sprint network and they only offer 3G speeds but my friend told me it's a bit faster than 4G? :\ So I'm still debating if I want to keep Metro or go with Boost just so I can save $15 off my phone bill after you make 18 on time payments through boost.

But getting back to what I was saying.. I'm currently in the market for a new phone, I have the LG Optimus M and it's definitely time for an upgrade!! I have been a metro pcs customer since 2010, haven't had much of any problems with metro but... I'm still trying to figure out what the difference is between 3G and 4G lol

yes but why are you using root? for the clockwork mods? tethering? if you want root for tethering... no need download DIY 1 click tether... i love this apk and the attain being so new metro allowed the apk to work on the 2.3.6 i love the fact the attain lets you remove bloatwear and tehter .. with NO ROOT

Speed man, speed! There both Sprint MVNO's but yeah oddly enough I have heard of people having no problem getting a signal with Boost where they didn't/couldn't get signal with Metro... But as far as the Metro 4G I have had no issue's so far, it handle's everything I've thrown at it, tethering, streams music & video great & coming from 1x on my last metro phone 4G is a dream, even though it may be like 3.5G compared to the other carriers, but it gets the job done without issue & is definitely worth the extra 10$

On another note the Boost android phone selection isn't that great is it? I havent really looked into there selection lately, not that Metro's are that great, but there getting there...

How so? I got the 4G mobile hotspot, dont need an app for that, it's actual a hidden feature, among others... but I have yet to find a way to actually uninstall the Metro bloat, I can hide them, but not remove/uninstall, That's something Ive always needed root for...

Well, some of the boost phones ain't cheap, the LG Marquee which is the phone I was looking at buying is $279 :( I mean I'm paying $266 for the Attain but I live in 4G service area with Metro, been a customer since Jan of 2010 and the first phone I've ever got with Metro was the Samsung Freeform II and believe it or not, I still have that phone, then upgraded to the LG Optimus, then had to use my Huawei Ascend for a little bit to get my Optimus M back, now I'm thinking about getting the Attain. Camera quality probably ain't all that great compared to 3.2 but it might be different than the Samsung Admire and the Huawei Ascend.

My friend lives out in the middle of nowhere, and his house has a tin roof on it, I can get signal but barely when I'm inside but when I'm outside, I get signal using the extended network. I really wanted to try boost out and see how well it works, but don't want to spend more money than what I'm paying now for my Attain.

And I would love to know how you can remove bloatware and tether your phone without rooting it, I had someone root my optimus for me because it was having freezing/rebooting issues but not anymore after I updated the software, I've heard the software update for the Esteem doesn't fix any bugs or issues you're having, so that's one reason why I didn't want to get another LG phone, not to mention, the phone itself looks like you're carrying a brick in your hand

You can't delete all the metro stuff just things like metro navigator and metro mail

They share the same Snapdragon processor and RAM, only way the Attain would be faster than a stock Esteem is if Touchwiz is better optimized than LGs UI.

My G/F and I just got new phones. She got the Attain and I got the Connect.

How are you liking the connect, mmm, dual core... I picked up the attain a while back to hold me over until the connect was released, guess I need to go hit up a metro or somewhere to go play with one. I have had an Android device before? How does it compare to the attain? I'd imagine it blows it away...

IMO the Connect is easily superior to the Attain, I'm super stoked about it! Not to mention the Connect's Root is the same as the LG Spectrum so we had root pretty much the same time it was released. Except now I'm seeing that Metro is expecting one of those nifty HTC V series, I believe the One V. Who knows how bad a$$ that's gonna be..

The one v has the same cpu as the attain, it will be a slight upgrade in a couple ways from the attain, but the main selling point will be ics, the one s and x are beasts but the v is a low/mid device compared to its siblings.

So the Connect will still be top dog for a min, I'm straight with that. I was thinking I should have held out, but that puts my mind a lil at ease. Didn't I hear somewhere that the Attain is going to be getting an upgrade to ICS sometime in the future?

Doubtful connect is more likely, bit honestly metro is an ***hole when it comes to os updates, they want you to have to upgrade phones to update, its their way of making bank, but yeah you're not missing much on the v, it might not even be 4g and yeah connect will likely have top spot until that galaxy s comes out in q2 (the dyle tv one)
