Help How do i transfer my contacts from SIM to PHONE? Thanks a lot!

In my case the phone did it instantly but the contact names were all messed up, the names were badly imported and the number type wasn't accounted for (i.e. the mobile phone will be an entirely different contact name, like, CONTACT_NAME\M). I ended up just backing up my contact list and importing it. The contacts were recognized properly, differentiating the number type under the same contact and all.

hello rpgmaker, thanks for you reply.

I did imported my contacts from the SIM card to PHONE, and i selected to view just the phone ones.

BUT, all it;s ok in "People" section. If i press the big middle button " PHONE " , under the numpad are all the contacts ( PHONE + SIM ), so i have the same contact twice, one in sim and one in phone.

Cheers!!!

Yes, that view option only works in "People". You will have to delete the sim contacts or they will show.

Maybe linking them will help if you dont want to delete?

you can send the SIM contacts to yourself as a vCard by going to
PEOPLE-THE CONTACT YOU WANT TO CONVERT TO PHONE-MENU-SEND CONTACT-SEND-(SEND IT TO YOURSELF)

You will then recieve it as an SMS
-PRESS THE SAVE ICON IN THE TEXT-SAVE-REPLACE

and it will now be a phone contact instead of a sim contact so you can now link it to facebook .ETC. :)

I know that this is an old thread, but as it's one of the top search results for this topic in Google, I thought I might update it with an appropriate answer.

Follow these steps:

1) Open Contacts. You can reach this from the contacts shortcut in your app drawer or home screen, or via the contacts tab in your phone dialer.

2) Press the Menu button.

3) Select Import/Export.

4) Select Export from SIM.

5) Click Select All, or manually tick each contact you wish to copy to the phone.

6) You may be asked where to copy the contacts to; select the appropriate option.

It takes no more than a second or two to copy over a few hundred contacts, so you'll be done in less than the time it takes to send yourself just one via SMS.

Simples! ^-^

Thanks - I think the best information for dealing with this problem is to select the 'Learn More' app. The solution is listed there! Enjoy.

While this might not be the best method, I have found it best served what I needed when transferring my iphone contacts to my Android HTC:

http://goo.gl/Gk96av

First, I don't have a Gmail account, and even if I had, I would not wish to mix my email addresses with my iphone address book by syncing Gmail with my iphone address book. As a result, I used the above method in order to manually export my iphone contacts to my computer and in turn import them to my new HTC phone.
