Rogers HTC Magic 288MB of ram only $99! NOW!

sure its $99 now, but they're no longer offering the 6GB plan for $30. Just the normal 500MB flex plan for $30 (that's for less than 500MB use, go up to next level for more $ when you go over).

Wrong.. The 6gb plan is still available... I register with Rogers few days ago and choose this plan

And yes... 3 years is really long but it's like that in our beautiful country :)

Call again. It's all about who you get answering your inquiry/how upset you sound. Remember, you feel taken advantage of because you clearly could never have predicted that the phone would drop fifty dollars barely a month after release ;)

I got mine by sending them an email, for crying out loud.

They run a business. When do you buy ANYTHING where the company will give you cash back when the product gets outdated?? That's undear to even ask. I'm sure my 62" is cheaper now than it was a year ago but I'm not about to go begging Sony.

Many dealers of products not just phones will refund or give store credit if you both something in the last 30 days and the sale if for less...

Not a novel approach to customer satisfaction ...

@Lobo: I called twice. The first time I was told NO refund. The second time I was told "No problem!" So I'll be seeing a $50 credit on my account next bill.

Just tell them straight out that you will simply return the phone, and then buy it again for $99. As long as you are in the return period, it is illogical _not_ to allow you the credit, but you have to pester them.

@enek: I am not a new subscriber either. i was going the hardware upgrade route also when I first called to order (when it was $149). I pointed out that I was a long-time loyal customer, and that it seemed wrong they would give a deal to new (unproven) customers, and not a loyal one. I also pointed out that Bell had the Palm Pre coming out soon, and sugested perhaps I might just wait out my contract and switch. I also said repeatedly that I was not happy with the price they wanted me to pay ($420) and eventually (after the woman checked with a supervisor) was told that I could have it for $200 if I signed up for a 36 month data plan ($30/mo) on top of my existing family plan.

I said Iwould have to think about it and call back. When I called back, I spoke with someone else who looked at the notes on my account and told me there would also be a $50 rebate coupon in the box. So that makes it the same $149 new user price.

When i called back for the extra $50 because of the price change, they didn't say anything about me being a new user. I just said "Hi, I just got the HTC Magic on a new 36 mo plan (techincally true since my contract was reset to the new 36 mo plan) and now you've dropped the price. i see people in the many forums saying they called and got the discount."

I was told No problem (on the second call).

NEway... proof that you can get it. Besides, you can tell them you will return the phone, and then buy it again for the lower price, as long as it's within the return policy period.

I called and got no refund but that doesn't surprise me. I'm still waiting for them to correct my entire purchase so far.

Ordered the phone and my card was declined, they said it was a wrong card number. They took it again, it declined again.

A week later I received the bill and made sure my card was fine.

So I had my bill in hand but no phone yet, my free month etc was ticking down.

They FINALLY processed the card but billed it $536 instead of the $149. I'm a new customer, new plan etc...so here I sit almost a month later and they are still trying to fix the issue.

I also then learned that text messages to the US are extra and not included in my messaging plan...I swear...

Now the HTC magic is 79.99$! Also, if you guys are getting a new HTC Magic or HTC Dream on a 3 year contract, I got this sweet coupon at wonderland that gives me 50$ of store credit.

But rogers are assholes, one time they billed me for over 2000$ and I called them up and they apparently just ignored my data plan and charged me per KB. Then they tried to pressure me to pay using the arguement "you used it, you pay". But after about half an hour of arguing they finally "agreed" to take my data plan into account.

Yes they made mistake on my message plan before as well.

They keep telling me "you used it, so you must pay for it", but the problem is I chose the plan that include them. It seems noone actually added it into my account. It took me 1 hours just to argue with the manager to get the credit back.

UnderWhat: what kind of coupon is it, can I use it as a coupon. Or I must use the actual coupon?

@MoreYummy: Unless they have something on their web site now, it is an actual physical coupon. I got one at a volleyball tournament where they were showing the Magic & the Dream, but it's only good if you buy the phone in-store. I bought mine by calling Rogers direct, so I couldn't use the coupon.

@halldorr: If you can get an invite to Google Voice and get the GV app for your phone, there is apparently a way to send txt messages for free by routing them through your GV number. Not entirely sure, haven't tried it yet.

(edit: according to the article above you can send txt messages for free, but you will be charged for incoming messages. Not sure about it really.)
