*Rezound ICS OTA is live Thread*

I'm in no big hurry for ICS, mostly because I can see some of my apps not being compatible with ICS until the developer has decided to update their software. Also, if we get ICS, I hope they give us an option to remove the on-screen buttons. I don't want to lose even more screen size because I have to deal with an extra set of buttons. If ICS is the mobile phone version of Honeycomb then it's not that big a deal to me since I've already played with Honeycomb extensively on another HTC device.

I don't think those buttons will be on the rezound since it already has those buttons. It would be stupid of google to make people have 2 sets of buttons. That would cause a PR nightmare and no one would want an android phone because its stupid.

But that's my point. ICS is not simply a mobile version of honeycomb. It is far better in every way. Smoother, faster, more refined. I wasn't impressed with honeycomb at all, but in the one day I've had ICS, I have been. Of course my Xoom is wifi only so I can't speak to how it plays with the phone signal or 3G/4G radio.

Also, I highly doubt that the onscreen buttons will be there in the rezound ICS build. The leaked version doesn't have them. As for app compatibility, many of the apps I use have already been updated to work with ICS. At least they seem to work fine on the Xoom. I'm hoping that the few that haven't will also by the time that we get it.

Google has said that if a device all ready has hard buttons, then the software ones will not appear. I agree that I'm in no rush to get ICS on the Rezound, but getting to play with it on my Xoom as well, I havn't found to many apps that don't work (but I haven't tried all my apps) & I've seen a lot of apps on my phone update recently to work on ICS.

The Rez came out Nov 14. I was shopping for an upgrade shortly before and on Nov 8 the Rep at my local vz store pulled out the Rez which I had never heard of. I found out later that he wasn't supposed to do that. It was supposed to be kept under wraps. In fact, the next day I was in another store and asked to see one and they said they didnt have it.

Why the story? Because the same rep told me this afternoon that ICS was being pushed out in the next 2-3 weeks. FWIW.

I suspect you are right. Change is usually for the better. I figured when I got this phone that ICS would come about the time I was antsy for a change of pace. Still might play out that way. I don't know how you improve my user experience with an upgrade... but there is always room it seems. It will be fun playing/configuring it when it happens.

I suspect it'll be something of a surprise when it comes out to us - These official updates seem to creep up on us that way. Still, I don't expect to see it on the Rezound until after the HTC One phone(s) come out so as to not steal their thunder. It just makes sense from a marketing standpoint IMO to make a splash with their newest phones having the latest and greatest software so that "new" buyers are sucked into the hype with the new devices. Then go back and update their older models soon after so the rest of us are taken care of to maintain customer loyalty. ;)

I love rumors :) Not so sure I'm anxious for ICS. My phone has been flaw free.. hate to think what a change might bring.

I agree, I am not anxious either.

I have it on my Xoom. The Vanilla ICS is missing many features I have grown to love. I hope HTC adds them into the ICS build for the Rezound. My biggest gripe about ICS is when you long press on a blank portion of a homescreen, you only have the option change wallpapers, to add apps to the homescreen you must find it in the app drawer first. Talk about a step backwards...

i know a field marketing rep.
last week she told me late march/early april for ics for the rezound.
i have a whitebox rezound and cant imagine ever going back to motorola.

she's also testing a one s right now on tmobile. that thing is slick and super thin without feeling flimsy. i hope the one x, or something comparable, come to verizon.

Wouldn't 3 weeks be the last week in March? Sounds like "late March" to me.
