LG Connect 4G overheat when charging

My Connect overheated this morning when I woke up. I am pretty sure the app "easy battery saver" has cause this. I did notice after i installed the app, my phone gets warmer when I charge.

I uninstalled it and tried to charge it again. Phone doesnt get hot. Correct me if Im wrong.

EDIT: The phone still gets warms when I charge it. Is that normal?

Make sure u are Also using the charger that came with it cuz when I use a different one mine over heats as well. ( car charger)

Yes, I did use the charger that came with the phone. Does anyone have this overheating problem? Does anyone know if the store will replace another phone?

Same here, used easy battery saver and phone gets overheated. Uninstalled that app.

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. So it is confirm, Easy battery saver will cause phone to overhead while charging.

I think Juicedefender should be fine. I will download that app and try it tonight. I will let you know ny tomorrow. Good luck Juice Defender!

Ugh. here we go again lol...

It happens to me when I play dead space for a long time (great game by the way). Basically using high cpu for a relatively short period of time. At least it gives you an annoying popup. But they really have to fix that, a workaround is to temporarily the max cpu frequency of your phone down to about 600-800Mhz. Havent tried it, but that will keep the temp down and probably run games just fine.

This time I say we demand/declare it as defective to LG. I consider a phone defective if it overheats during normal operation. We don't need a message box telling us that it's overheating and to cool it off. What if it's by your pillow and you are sleeping. It could explode the battery under worst case scenario and catch fire because some app decided to hog the cpu or you fell asleep playing dead space if you want to be specific.

Let's call them up and demand a recall, and force them to make a new corrected model. This is the second time I get a defective manufacturing or software in their high end phones and I'm tired of it.

Do me a favor. ALL of you who have this phone, download android battery dog from the market, it logs temperatures etc... to a file on the sdcard. Play your games, let this thing get hot to the max. Post your files. I will call LG myself and deal with this and if they don't comply with our demands for a fix within a fixed time (I don't mean > 3 months) then I will follow with legal action. Do this once with the lg esteem and we can call it ignorance, but to do this twice now in a row is negligence.

If I bought a Nitendo DS and I found out the same was happening on a device designed to play games, all hell would break loose. Android is also designed for games and regular use and I will hold it to those standards.

just left my phone charging for 30 min in my car and the message phone overheat shutting down it won't turn on put ac to max cool down in 2 min power back again and with no battery apps installed in my phone,

Def sounds defective, but maybe use SetCPU to underclock while screen is off? Saves battery anyway.

Ok. I used juice defender last night while charging. Evertrying seems to be working without any overheating. I left my phone charging on my night stand. I also think it overheated before due to charging under my pillow.

what I recommend is to let the phone charge on a cool platform like a table, night stand , or something cool.

Try taking the battery out and place it on a cool surface for 10 min.

Budde2 messaged me that he exchanged the battery and it seemed to correct the problem of the constant high heat. Hey budde2, does it happen to you after playing a 3d game for a while? I'm trying to gather facts so when I call them I have multiple users and evidence to present. I'm really hoping it's just defective batteries.

Yes it got like 104 105 while playing dead space shotgunshadow ,need for speed LG said that was normal for gaming is this true

I just took measurements with android dog, and what i'm seeing in dead space (before i even get the overheat message, still gotta bring up the cpu load a bit more) is a steady 50C/122F, playing games also drains the battery *while* it charges, like 4G usage did on the esteem except i'm not even doing that...

Observation: I am charging with the unit off right now and it does not seem to be getting hot at all. Would this mean that the software is the cause? I would think so, but I am no expert.

I went Googling on the battery model and found where Optimus Black uses the same one. There are users of it that have battery heat problems as well. It could be a possible lead.

the overheating issue happened to me twice. i left the phone charging overnight under my pillow. woke up in the middle of the night sweating from my head. the phone was at least 115 degrees(f). hasnt happened anymore after that.
battery isnt that great. i use a data switch to turn on my data when i really need it. helps out a bit

i really think many of the problems people are having with these phones come from rooting them and doing things the phone wasnt designed to do.

I have not rooted yet and I am having the problems. I think you are incorrect in your assumptions.

Everyone drain your battery until the phone dies, then when you plug it back in the capacitive buttons will flicker, this means that it's balancing the cells of battery then after that the battery over heating should stop. this is due to the manufacturing of the phones charging the phones at 5000mv, with this method, the phone will be rebalanced, and end up at 4500mv which is around where it should be at full charge.


and this isn't due to the charger, I've used a 5v iphone charger, my 5v usb computer, and the included LG 4.7v charger and they all work fine now. also juice defender, other battery saving apps causes this overheating for me. to really save battery root, remove bloatware install set CPU set the scaling to "on demand" and set the max to 756mhz, this gave me 3 more hours of life from my phone with all my apps including shadowgun and GTA III running at full speed on highest settings.
