Ok you guys are not going to believe this. Since my wife is a data hog doing 40 gigabytes a month they gave her a Droid 4. She was using a 3G LG Ally
They said they want to get the heavy users off of the 3G network. So as an incentive they are giving discounts to people that are heavy users with 3g phones to upgrade to 4G usually 100 off. My wife was an extreme case so they gave her the droid 4 for free. How backwards and awesome is that? So moral of the story.... be a data hog and get yourself a free 4G device. LOL

I am hearing rumors that they want to clear 3g for I phone users because Iphone will not be receiving 4g!! Yikes Stinks to be an apple lover!!

I would be surprised if the next iPhone didn't have LTE. 'The new iPad' does. But that's good news for your wife, at least. But sheesh...40GB / mo? Non-tethered? I got to assume that the carrier checked into that.

Does her phone do nothing but download? And stay connected to the wall socket? I'm just skeptical about that number. It seems to fall under 'abuse' of unlimited data.

Well she does Netflix on the Wii. So no its Tethered for sure, and no they didnt check into it. A one hour show on the wii will get anywhere from 500 to 800 Mb. So it really doesnt take that long to rack up those kind of data usages.
I really dont think there should be an abuse of Unlimited Data. Ummm its Unlimited.

people have already started sueing the carriers for Throttling. and they have won the lawsuits.

I was also grandfathered into Verizon's $29.99 unlimited web and email program from several years ago. I also received a discount on upgrading to a 4G phone...but it wasn't free! :( I was averaging around 20-25GB/mo, but that was when I was unemployed and playing poker at the casino for 10-14 hrs a day and streaming pandora all day long. Congrats.

Uhm... this is going to come back to bite you.
We used to have unlimited data here, but our government passed netneutrality so throttling was not allowed anymore. So now all the service providers have limited plans of 1 or 2 GB per month. Like it or not, the network has it's limitations.
Devils advocate: When they say it is an unlimited dataplan, what they mean is: "here ya go! You can Facebook, twitter, read the news and watch funny cat video's on youtube all you want." They do not mean: "here you go! Mobile internet is a lot cheaper than cable so you might as well do all your streaming and downloading on our network."
