Handy Ascend Download Links

I have messed with my cricket bootanimation folder so much that it doesn't work anymore. Anyone have the original?

/system/media/bootanimation

I think there is supposed to be four folders inside.

Thanks

Welcome to AF, you can make a backup and flash back to stock and pull the bootanimation.zip using root explorer and than go into recover and restore your recovery and move the bootanimation back to /system/media.

Alright so i recently re_booted my phone back to CM7 (playful god latest) and Gapps was missing for somereason idk why... But when I tried to unzip it from my sd card in recovery, the unzip/install goes perfect, except when it reboots the system, my phone gets stuck on the "Ascend" screen (giant tron droid not skating droid) and it stays like that for hours and hours and refuses to go any further (to skating droid screen).... It's really pissing me off cuz my phone is almost as good as bricked now

I would just start from square 1.. re-download the CM7 ROM and also the gapps file, and try it again... following the steps from this thread...

what version CMW are you using... You should be using at least CWM 3.0.0.5 if not the CMW 3.0.2.4

Yes, what he said above about CWM. This also happened to me, so after flashing 3.0.2.4, I loaded PG's CM7.2 that OC'd to 748MHz and defaulted to 748MHz (09122011 build) to my SD and tried to flash it. Stuck. I then downloaded PG's 09132011 build that OC'd to 710MHz and defaults to 710MHz, did a data/factory reset, cache wipe, Dalvik wipe...then reboot to recovery...then flashed gapps, then rebooted to system. Worked just fine. Maybe that will work...or try other versions. The BobzHome one worked on my Ascend as well.

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS, DAYWALKER40!

The posts & information are up-to-date.
Just read all the information carefully before proceeding w/modding your phone & that should keep difficulties to a minimum.
If you do run into difficulties, don't hesitate to post, someone is usually hanging around, despite the appearance otherwise, & will get you on your way.

My suggestion for a ROM would be CM7 09132011.

Ok..first off thanks again for holding my hand through this...used gingerbreak..(can i uninstall that or no?) ..the titu instructions posted are different ..im not sure if i just got a newer version, but i figured it out and backed up apps and data. to the box..i never figured out how to change the bloatware from r/o to r/w..or whatever way it was...actually ended up drag and dropping them into a red "x" that would come up...now im trying to build enough nerve to use cm7....the one im trying to get is named "CM7.2-Ascend-09132011-signed 710Mhz version." does this sound right?

Go to the ALL THINGS ROOT section of this forum & see the thread ULTIMATE ASCEND CUSTOMIZATION GUIDE.

It contains step-by-step instructions for installing CM7.

Before installing CM7,you'll want to install a version of CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY.(just flash it right over the existing stock ANDROID RECOVERY)

You can either install it(version 3.0.0.5)via the app ROM MANAGER or install the preferred version(s) 3.0.2.4 or 3.0.2.8 via FASTBOOT method.

All download links can be found @ the top of this thread & the instructions for FASTBOOT method of installing CWM 3.0.2.4(8) can be found in the stickies in the ALL THINGS ROOT section.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.or,PM:call:,& we'll get ya on your way in no time.:vroam::D
