Root MIUI discussion (11-25)

Hey guys, I've been a pretty loyal fan to cm7 since the Optimus V about a year and some time ago. Now I've spent a few days with MIUI on the MT and I don't see myself going back anytime soon. I've flashed this ROM a few times in the past but couldn't get past the lack of an app drawer so I reverted. I've had a few days off work so I've decided to give some time to bending MIUI to my taste and getting the most out of this acclaimed ROM. Right now I'm with miui 11-25 with the SD kernel not over/underclocked, and go launcher ex and I must say it is very smooth. I would use go SMS if I hadn't heard of SMS going to different recipients, deal breaker. Anyway I was hoping on turning this into a MIUI discussion where we could exchange settings and tips since cm has one and for MIUI newcomers coming from different ROMs its a bit tricky getting a hold on the completely different ui. So what are your setups everyonee? What would you recommend?

I'll hang out here, since I love MIUI above all other ROMS :)
Extended Settings mod - our last MIUI release from Isaac was 1.11.25, so make sure you get that version - by Andy Thompson is way cool. Change carrier signal, a fake app drawer, clock time/placement, customization of date formats on status bar, change color of battery, etc.

XDA lockscreen thread is loaded with themes not always available on the MIUI theme bank. We are broken as of 1.11.25 for sms counts on custom lockscreens...maybe that'll change if we get an update. Still some very cool themes to try out.

I read that GoLauncher is the smoothest alt launcher for this ROM. I like ADW Ex when I'm not using the stock myself.

Volume down and menu button takes snapshots.

The MIUI category on my blog has everything I've done for MIUI, as well as snaps of all my fave themes/setups.

If you want a highly complete MIUI theme (besides mine lol) check out the Blue Dado series on any MIUI site - his work is highly complete and not prone to any problems.

MIUI lockscreens use MIUI music (controls will work on other music apps, but album art and song track info will not). I happen to really like the Music app, visually and functionally. The widgets are way cool, too.

Thanks for the tips.. :) definitely feeling the extended settings. When I have a more complete setup ill post some screenshots. I've been using adw for awhile and have switched to adw for the awesome dockbar icons and the cylinder transition they seem to fit miui specifically. I This is quickly becoming my favorite rom. :)

the "extended settings" is an app, much like "Spare Parts" on cm7.

other than that miui 11.25 is AWESOME and id love to continue using it but cm7 reloaded has more features that appeal to me. this is gunna sound stupid but im MOST interested in having rotation animation.

i rotating the phone to use portrait vs landscape is something i do the most on it, for various reasons (typing, video, etc), if it can be made enjoyable than im going to use that method, which is cm7. if there was a flashable mod to allow ROTATION animations (lots of mods for homescreen animations, but thats not what i want) then yeah id be using miui as my daily.

No over scroll works but I don't know how to get the app drawer to work.
I couldn't at first either...
download a new launcher
not necessary...
1. Make sure you're on MIUI 1.11.25, and that you're on extended settings 1.11.25 as well.
2. It will be under app drawer settings in the Ext Settings app, which should appear on your homescreen if you installed the apk right. There will be a few click options: which side pf the screen you will drag to open the app drap, keep persistent on start up, and a menu to edit what appears and doesn't. Warning: its really tricky to get this working. I picked the right side of the screen, and totally thought it was busted until the ninth time I did the motion - you have to drag from immediately below the stat bar down, so its easy to pull down your notifications/toggles instead. Color for the app drawer is in a separate menu on Ext Settings - I think all color options are in one submenu.

Thank you very much! I thought the app drawer wasn't gonna work but now it works :)
