Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Kids around my age (20) doing the most idiotic stuff I've ever heard of... Just recently, a kid was nearly shot for brandishing an airsoft gun in public, and last year, I remember about 5 or 6 similar cases like this. Just because you're under the age of 21 doesn't mean you can get away with being stupid! And on that note, those kids' parents need to get off their a$$es, stop hiding from the justice system and discipline their kids the old fashioned way, by way of the spoon (or whatever the choice may be).

Next one: People in general... I may not technically be a part of the working world yet (enrolled in Job Corps), but that doesn't mean I don't deal with my share of morons. You wanna be stupid? Fine, just stand out of the way.

But what i do like about Motorhead's comment is how he recognizes the 'reason' theres so many young generation gone wrong..lack of discipline on the part of the parents. My rant is lazy parents who shun their parental dues from the moment of the childs birth, letting a baby form a "free will" mentality early on. i LOVE it when i go over to a relative house (no names mentioned here... heh) and while in the middle of a conversation with the (cough) "mom" , i get a shoe with hard heals thrown in my face! then a chuclke from the brat's "mutha" as if its cute!

I told her that brat's growing up to pick out his 6-foot plot early!!! ....then told her to let me baby sit'em for a few hrs.. no, 5 minutes! thats all i need to make his dreams come true!

(...man! didnt realize i had a rant!)

Bad parents! I won't tell anyone how to raise their children, but if your kids are disrespectful brats then I won't let my kids play with them. I don't want my kids picking up bad manners from the uncouth urchins running around my neighborhood. Parents need to be involved in their kids lives, not trying to push the kids outside to play so that mommy and daddy can smoke pot. Some people don't deserve their children.

If the brat comes to my house - the parents are told to take the kid and leave. I don't care who they are. If I go to the brat's house and the kid starts up, I'll leave.

We were all brought up "Children should be seen and not heard"

I subscribe to "Children should be seen and heard if they are respectful"

It wouldn't be so bad if my generation had half a brain between two people and a little common sense. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy life as much as the next person, it's just that people get on my nerves with that kind of crap.

Motorhead! You are a gifted and wise mature guy beyond your years, my friend! I habe made it my missio not to let my little tyke turn out like what we see today! These lil' so-and-so's today! they "aint" got no kind of respect for their elders or for one another.

You stay the sharp and distinguished young man that you are! You will go places!

Man! This rant thread has helped me lift some steam

My son has learned that please, thank you, sir and ma'am are four of the most important words in the English language, followed closely by excuse me, and I'm sorry. He is still four and acts it at times, but he is very respectful.

I'm with you. And it's always nice to see that. I do admit that I'm usually surprised when a kid is being respectful to adults (by "kid" I mean up to the age of about 16 or so, those are tough years for kids, from our standpoint and theirs).

I generally like to apply that rule to people in general. I never understood how some people think respect is a job title, a pay rate, an occupation, where you're from, your gender, your race, etc. I hate to say it, but I get a sense that even here, some people think the color of their name (red, green, etc) should command a certain level of respect. That being said, I find it hard to respect someone because of what they COULD do to me, whether it's here or in the real world. I think it comes across as an attempt at intimidation.

Respect shouldn't be something you expect from others to offset your insecurities, it should be an acknowledgment of someone's failures and achievements.

I have respect for Tiger Woods the golfer, should I have respect for Tiger Woods the person? From what I've heard, when he plays golf his language is just as scandalous as his lust for porn actresses. Thus I can't imagine paying his golf game so much respect that it gives him a free pass off the golf course. Granted, based on what I've seen, I'm probably in the minority with my sentiments, and thus, it grinds my gears...

What REALLY grinds my cogs is when people go out and buy a Parrot or any kind of bird for that matter and keep it a freaking cage for it's WHOLE damn life???

Birds are designed to fly great distances and roam free and some loser people keep them LOCKED up in cages!!?

They should make keeping a bird in a tiny little cage ILLEGAL.

If you want to keep a bird as a pet give it lots and lots of room / space to fly around like it was meant to.

WHAT ALSO REALLY GRINDS MY SPROCKETS ARE MAD CRAZY YANKEES!!!

Damn Yankees...... jeepers!

Psychopathic and borderline troll rant over...

^ :) I always try to race the cashier in my head. I like winning ;)

Also, I agree. Political parties are the cause of a lot more problems than solutions. It baffles me that it is even an option to vote for one party without voting. Auto-vote me rep/dem. WTF. That shouldn't be allowed. Should be illegal. So should lobbyists. Nominate me supreme ruler, and lobbyists and politicians caught taking bribes (which is what they do) would all be guilty of treason and put in front of a firing squad. And I don't really support the death penalty, very rarely do I think it should be required.

Complete strangers who seem to think that a hug is appropriate when a smile is fine.

Step back and keep your hands and body to yourself, please.

Especially when they want to touch your children. Squeeze cheeks and what not. Only bright side is when they're sick (the kids that is.) you get the quiet satisfaction of knowing they just voluntarily touched a cesspool of germs.
