USB Jig works fine for Admire, I've tested it.

It may not work in your current situation, but it most certainly does for soft bricks.

It's a samsung thing whereby a phone that does not go into download mode can be forced via a hardware hack.

It connects two pins on the microusb port with a 300k resistance, which triggers download mode.

Sometimes it's the only way to recover a phone that's soft bricked.

actually on many phones the jig is useless save one feature, it resets your download counter (in case you wanna try a warranty swap).

I've tested it so far on:

Galaxy S 4G
Galaxy S Vibrant
Galaxy S Facinate
Conquer 4G
Nexus S 4G
Galaxy Nexus
Admire

And it worked on everyone of them so far. So I wouldn't say it's useless.

I bricked my admire from trying to flash CWM recovery, before I realized there's some threads that advise against it and in bold letters say it WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE, and I'm looking up usb jigs to unbrick it but most of the ones I find say for most galaxy phones. Are all jigs the same or do I need specific ones for specific phones?:smokingsomb:

That's a downer but next up to bat is the sch-i400 samsung continuum 2.1. Since that's part of the galaxy s family if I make the same rookie mistake and brick that would a jig help or should I be more careful with this one? I only have an attain left after this, aside from my actual phone, optimus m. Though I need a new digitizer for my attain

you would have to look into that phone a little more. just dont use rom manager and you should be good. they usually keep a list of the compatibles devices on apps like that. its important to read everything even though its boring.

edit: uggggh i dont understand why my freaking signature doesnt show up sometimes. . . get it together forums!!!

I didn't use ROM manager on the continuum, instead I used a custom ROM I found, CM7 I believe, to update the continuum to 2.2.2, it even rooted it for me. I'm not going to mess with ROM manager anymore, maybe on my gf's activa 4g just to get into recovery mode, but that's it!
