Seriously Verizon/Google! Where is 4.0.4?!!

FYI for all the people thinking about moving to the 4.0.4 roms, they are all leaked releases and unofficial. Google has not released the actual source code which is why some of the major rom makers of this phone have not updated their roms to 4.0.4. So be weary and expect bugs on the leaked radios and roms.

After having 3 devices with poor call quality of varying kinds and dropped calls I am getting told by Verizon that this update is literally days out.

This is the Verizon reps telling me this and we all know that they don't know.

I have had money credited to my account over this because I have raised such a stink over it.

I really just want one that works. :(

Voided really said how I feel, but let me try to say it in different terms anyway. :)

When updates for Android phones come out, there are many people who have to check it off. I feel that our military may be more efficient than VZW is with their Android rollouts and in the military for in-processing they send me all over the base and don't know if the person who needs to sign the papers is there.

To put it in other terms: Large corporations aren't ever as fast at doing things as we would like. One thing that I can assure you of though is that you are now in the Nexi land, and here things do happen faster, even if it's not as fast as you would or I would like.

Also: everyone, please remember to be respectful and courteous to each other and that we aren't downright attacking each other, we can attack the situation (in this case, being mad at VZW) but don't attack or flame the person who is making the statement, or attack them for their opinion on that statement. It's never fun to bring mods in to discussions. :)

I love my phone, and I'm glad I jumped for it when I got it. I've had virtually no issues since day 1. That aside though, the one reason I had even the slightest pause on it, was because I had a Fascinate back in the day (pre-TB for me). And I remember how long it took to get updates. So when the nexus came out, I said that it looked like a great phone, but...it's a Samsung, and they typically have a slow history of updating. I was persuaded, on here, actually, to go ahead because hey, it's a google phone, updates will come a lot faster since it's coming almost straight from the tap. And..when was the first time they announced it? shortly after launch, I think? even with a month leeway, now we're back to 2 months at least, since it was announced that it was in the works.

Again, I love my phone, I have no issues. And I understand it's a new version of Android, so it'll have more issues to straighten out. But really, at this point, I'm easily ready to not care any more about it being a "pure google" phone, since it obviously isn't meaning much in the update world for 99% of us. And as with EVERY case like this, what I wouldn't give for a message from Google saying "bear with us, we know it's taking a while, but we're having issues with X and Y".

I appreciate that many GNex owners love their phones and have no problems with reception at all. I love my GNex as well, but I've had terrible (and identical) reception issues with two of these handsets. Many GNex owners are having the same issue so there's obviously a problem that needs to be addressed. I've read quite a lot about needing to have realistic expectations for an update. It's just getting very old not being able to use my phone when I NEED to. I don't see the harm in Google giving us some official word on an update for goodness sake!

Many issues that have bit me in the ass before.

I finally swapped sims from my razr maxx into the SGN and called VZW, since we hit the 90 day mark with no updates.

Two reps later giving me the deal about calling samsung; I blocked them ASAP as I had called samsung right before. The T2 guy was giving me a canned response, so I just said, politely, to give me your supervisor.

Went though the whole 90 days so far, about to be the same as the Droid Charge (samsung), where reps kept saying a release is going to happen in 30 days or less.... I played that game for 10 months and the issues where never fixed. Now I get nothing from VZW reps, just that they are waiting on samsung/google, ugh.

He offered CPO droid razr maxx, I was happy since I run a maxx daily now. I know someone that will be able to use a maxx and be very happy about it, or I could put it on as a second line, I have those options.

Bottom line, their flagship phone, the droid razr maxx is now avail for CPO if you talk to the right people at VZW
