hmmm..... there seems to be something not being used in these benchmarks.
i can understand how the better smaller size build will help the S4...

but 4 cores must have some advantages.

the tegra3 must have been rushed out.. and was not fully optimized.
the next company that releases a 4-core cpu that utilizes the S4's tech would be amazing.

It's not gimped. That S4 Krait puts out tons of power for a next gen dual-core. I don't care about amount of cores. From everything I have read, I would actually prefer the S4 over T3. Mostly because of the energy savings and the ability of having the radios built into the die.

Hey quick question, you referenced radios being built in, and I recall someone on this board talking about newer phones building in the 4G into the 3G chip to save room and power. Is that what you're talking about?

I believe what he is talking about is the 4g chips being built onto the CPU chip

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. On the SoC, you'll have CPU/GPU/Radios all built on the same board. They say it saves tons of power, but we'll have to wait and see for real-life performance first. Logically, it should be really awesome.

Is this all true about the radios?

In the past, that's been claimed often, but what's really built-in to the SoCs are the _modems_ and then the radio chips are separate. Pretty common for the Qualcomms to have always included the full modem set when others did not.

Not sure here, but I'd bet that's how it is. Radio chips are expensive - the S3 in the 3D has modem control for both GSM and CDMA, but only a CDMA radio chip is included in the phone, as one example.

Edit and PS - Just checked, yep, it's just the modems.

Also the Krait is not an A15. Just as the S3 compared to a Cortex A8 or A9, the S4 compares to a Cortex A15. The S4 continues the tradition of allowing asynchronous clocks for each core, something I personally prefer quite a bit.

Tough call between the Tegra 3 and the S4, but Snapdragons have been good to me, and this is the first full revamp of the Snapdragon, so I have high hopes for it.

Hey, Guys...

HTC EVO successor to "Jet" onto the scene June 10th. If this happens to be true - I know many of you, including myself will have to get this super (bad boy) device.

I guess HTC and Sprint was reading our minds - huh? We would love hear your thoughts on this. :)

One more thing, I really think that Sprint should consider keeping the EVO Brand Name. HTC EVO One X - sounds pretty good to me. There are so many awesome devices now-a-days to choose from. Link below.

It'll come down to the bootloader for a lot of people. HTC needs to wise up that we want to simply issue the "fastboot oem unlock" command and be done with it, like a Nexus.

Root isn't for everyone - but the easier and safer it is, the more people will get on board, and earlier. Always attractive to the dev community, imo.

I wonder if the new codename HTC Jet (was Jewel?) is a take off from the HTC Supersonic aka Evo 4G?
