WIFI won't connect even after Factory Reset...

Hi everyone,

I've had my HTC desire since Sep 2010 and have had no problems with it at all up until about a month ago when my wifi decided to stop working.

I try to connect and I get the 'scanning...' notice but then nothing. The wifi symbol isn't along the top anymore. I have been using my mobile internet but my quota is rapidly running out.

I've done loads of research in the forums about 'rooting' the phone to maybe solve the problem. I thought I should do a factory reset first before trying this but this made no difference. The closest solution I found was 'rooting' and then deleting the 'bcm_supp.conf' file but this was for the Samsung Phone so don't know if this would apply to the HTC.

Does anyone have any other solutions or can point me in the right direction?

p.s. sorry if this question keeps coming up but I couldn't find any solutions that applied to me!!

You tried to use it directly after the factory reset? No additional applications installed?

If so, sounds like a hardware issue to me seeing as a factory reset would eliminate all software errors.
Is it still under the two years warranty? If so send it back.

Yeah I think you could be right with the hardware issue! I'm due for an upgrade in July so won't have too long to put up with it, just hoped there might be a solution so I don't have to keep using my mobile internet. :(
