new thread for ics official update release

Has anyone in the UK had the Official ICS update through Kies yet? I've been checking since yesterday (19th) but nothing. I've looked at my handset and it's all unlocked & unbranded, bought it from phones4u, dialed a code on my phone (can't remember which code now, if anyone knows please repost) but this code brought up that my handset was networked unlocked.

I was under the impression that If your phone was unlocked then you wouldn't have to wait for the Networks to release the ROM (Orange in my case) as your handset would be classed as simfree, with no bloatware????

If anyone could shed some light on this, that would be brilliant.

Lol fragglemoo, same here, been checking since yesterday constantly throughout the day and still nothing. knowing that my phone was unlocked I worked myself up to thinking I'd get my update as soon as it was released, oh how wrong I was, hope I don't have to wait on Orange and if I do I pray a load of bloatware isn't added.

I'm on 3 and downloaded the ics update last night via odin as I couldn't get it to work through kies. There's a lot of new promising looking stuff but the touchscreen seems 'sticky' when scrolling vertically through lists and the battery life is woeful at the moment. where as I would have dropped to about 75% normally with my usage, on ics it's now under 60%. I've listened to about 2 hr's of music
Which wouldn't usually dent the battery, but is showing a wakelock of 22%. I don't know whether to give it a day or two, or roll back to 2.3

I'm on 3, installed ICS this afternoon, battery does seem to be getting hammered but it might be a live wallpaper I've added - might go back to the previous wallpaper and see how that works out.

No issues with the touchscreen or wifi or anything on my phone though.

Can't see what's so exciting about it so far. Face unlock is an interesting novelty for five minutes...

Yeah.. It rubs it in... Unless three have pushed out an update without testing thoroughly... Which could be why they've even beaten the non-carrier version
But ain't the carriers supposed to get the firmware the same time as the Sim free phones, hence why the branded phones are usually getting the update later. Its certainly a different way of doing things for sure.
Anyway listening to some threads, it might be worth the wait if things need ironing out.

I can see what you mean. i got an orange branded phone but paid to get a code to unlock it and now it is sim free and im with O2. my android version is currently 2.3.5 so i dunno where i stand with the update. any ideas.

Sort of same here. O2 phone but unlocked (by O2 provided code).
But I suspect 'unlocked' does not make the phones sim free (as is sim free firmware), just removes the barrier to loading official sim free firmware.
My firmware is still clearly O2's - CSC:KJ1 (O2U)

Suppose we will only really know once O2 or sim free firmware is released.
