Mass Effect 3

I hope I've not read too much into that and it's not spoiled the ending for me :( :p

Added hide tags just in case, apologies if I've misinterpreted.

Lol, you did misinterpret. It's not a secret that ME3 is the last game of the trilogy. There's also 4 different endings to the game (one secret). There are countless ME lovers who are on the BioWare forums screaming bloody murder for such a terrible finale (story wise).

Yeah, I knew it was the last one, I just think I read waaaaay to much between the lines!

There's apparently an article on IGN right now aboput Bioware changing the ending due to the rage over how it actually panned out.

I've still got a bit to do, just finishing the Priority: Tannoch missions at the moment

I'm actually a little pissed off because I missed a side mission that you get at The Citadel, which unlocks an area where one of the collectibles is located for your war effort. This alone didn't allow me to get the Master and Commander achievement. Grrrr! I have to play through the game all over again to get it, which I guess isn't such a bad thing, but I don't have the time to do that again lol.

I'm glad BioWare is looking to make some changes. There were a few parts of the game that made me relatively unhappy.

people hate the ending because they advertise that you can change the game based on the decisions you make throughout. But when you get to the end and you make your last choice, they're all the same ending with only slight changes to each. So no matter what you choose to do during the game, the endings are the same, which is not what led everyone to believe.

edit: added 'hide' tags so i dont ruin the ending for people

Just finished. I totally don't get what the beef with the ending was, but there you go.

Ditto. I got the ending I was expecting/hoping for; it was exactly what my Shepard wanted.

Spoilers within:
He set out to defeat the Collectors/Reapers and succeeded. Those he held dearest survived, as did at least some of all the races who united behind him. Hopefully this unity will be remembered and peace will prevail. He lived and died a hero.

It will be interesting to see how my Infiltrator's story pans out, given that he made opposite choices at several crucial junctures in the arc. Until I complete that I'll reserve final judgement on the ending.

My story dictated that I was a hero, but meh.

If it is any consolation, I wiped out the Quarians in favor of the Geth. LOL! What did you choose as your ending?

I told Mordin what the deal was with the genophage so I didn't have the backing of the Salarians, I obviously had the Turians and the Krogan backing, I also managed to save both the Geth and the Quarians. I also destroyed the reapers at the end. Given I didn't play any real amount of multiplayer, I got the best ending I could (my military strength bar was full).

Apparently if you play it through again, there's another tiny bit added on to the end of it.

My only major gripe is that MP has an influence on the endings.

the part that I dont understand is the whole percentage thing. You need to play multiplayer maps in order to increase your readiness. But whats the point? You can still beat the game regardless? I must have missed something.

It's just something that BioWare included to sync the multiplayer and single player campaign. I like it a lot. Once you get to level 20 in multiplayer, you can promote your character to join the N7 Special Ops squad and you get that additional team for your war effort.

How did you manage to save the Quarians and Geth!? I did the same thing with Mordin. I felt that it was the right thing to do anyway. My military bar is off the charts with power. My galactic readiness was something like 97%, but I couldn't get it to 100% due to me missing a small side mission back when you are doing the whole Palaven incident. At the end, I chose to create new life.

yeah i kinda like that aspect of the game. Its really the first time a game has included MP with single player.

I also had the support of the prothean dude from the DLC

i was able to save the quarians and the geth as well. If my memory serves me correctly, while that geth dude is uploading the info, dont stop him. He'll eventually stop on his own but that will force the geth prime to help the quarians and you get their support.

The DLC character is bad ass.

What did you choose as your ending?

My warrior-diplomat had saved everyone; he met the Rachni Queen he allowed to live in ME1, had united Turians and Krogan, Quarian and Geth, had the remainder of the Salarian forces with him too thanks to saving the council from Cerberus and saving Major Kirrahe on Virmire.... his only possible choice was shouting "oo-rah!" and blowing the Reapers out of existence. :)

You need to play multiplayer maps in order to increase your readiness. But whats the point?

It's broken. The original idea seems to have been that MP could be a "shortcut" to allow for missing out side quests that rewarded you with war assets. Somebody got their sums wrong though.

It's just something that BioWare included to sync the multiplayer and single player campaign.

Good idea to increase replayablility and attract a wider user base, but ME has always been an SP game; there should be NO requirement for MP, which is what has happened. No doubt it will be rectified with a patch (all that's required is a few pts added to each asset) but it smacks of poor final testing.

The DLC character is bad ass.

An interesting character certainly but the furthest I took him was The Citadel, where he nearly caused a riot.... depressing SOB. :)

I don't think that is the purpose of the MP co-op. You certainly do not get any extra war effort units outside of the N7 squad. I see it solely as a means to increase replay value, and it is rather successful at that.

Lol, yeah that was funny. He was scaring the crap out of people with his super negative comments. I had to whip him into shape though with my uber paragon skills.

Well, that's what Bioware themselves stated as the reason for MP being able to affect SP gameplay.

Regardless, that N7 squad is still an asset not available to SP-only players. Then there's the whole business of MP raising "galactic readiness", which has absolutely no bearing on the MP gameplay, and which degrades daily unless maintained by online play.
